Dunoo if its still around, wouldnt be in phase area though...
I just searched for all of his posts, sadly only found 5 pages nowt there.
Any ideas what the topic was called..google might find it as an archived thread
i dont think there was a thread, i remember it happen at some lan party, there were some pics at teampuss forum, mybe pm runmc he might remember it. there were a few pics of old members, chilly, pcice runmc and a few others as well, but not much of the coolers mainly the guys benching and watching

Is it something like using a compressor as a vacuum pump to pull a vacuum in the evaporator in order to lower temperatures?

Well if it is open loop hmm was he condensing LN2 and dripping it into a pot? That would be badass and amazing to watch but the amount of powered to condense it would be nuts.

Yeah i vaguely remember that. About a year ago give or take.

Only problem is you can get a minimum of -273C. :)

It was -300F not C :D. I think that's the one he has in his avatar.

This was a gaming event in Texas. Search under google images for "chilly1", there are a few pics of the event that pop up along with all the team :).

That is pretty nuts, very intersting use of LN2, still not as cool as condensing your own though :(

Um, for a person who phases, you should have a small sense of thermodynamics.
Checkout absolute zero ;)

Guys the main thing to keep in mind that was a "OPEN LOOP" system. if you don't understand what that is just use pots & Ln2.
Also notice the protective gear,I wish I would see that in all photo's of guys benching with LN2.

Gomeler Ln2 is has the same boiling point weather you manufacture it your self or buy it.
the difference is chilly had 2 heads and the lines while pic was taken were uninsulated adding wattage raising the temperature.
Normal boiling point is -195C or -320F

I think gom meant it more in the context of, having ln2s great, but making your owns more phase section material

k LNē is not ure most normal thing .
but some mutch protectjon :p , the glasses k there i see something . but the handshoes for pooring lnē :s , in only thake handshoes when taking off container when still cold . never got any hard burns , only little 3mm orso 1ste dagre burns . if u are little bit handy and experies with LNē u can do it ;) .

Ive seen DEAD professionals. The most common thing you hear after a accident is, ah S*#t, I thought I could handle it,or never seen that happen before.
Its the unexpected or what you don't know thats gets you ever time.

Ln2 hurts, my ex when at school was killed when a dewer fell all over here no BS! It was being delivered as we came out of a chemistry lesson and saw it hit the deck and yeah.

least you have a sense of humor :D I know that LN2 is LN2 is LN2, but condensing your own LN2 would be much more awesome than just metering it out from a dewar.
About Pete, I've seen some crazy stuff with LN2, the guys that play around with it and don't think it's all that dangerous should dip a chicken into the LN2 and then throw it against a brick wall. Great way to make chicken strips :toast:
hey gomeler, you and I think quite the same stuff :P. both like to make our own enery and our own ln2 :D

You can't make your own engery "Energy can neither be created or destroyed"

Energy can be created, in small amounts. In nuclear bombs, a tiny amount of matter is converted into energy... an infinitely small amount of matter.

NOT infinitely... or else the "m" in E=mc^2 would be zero, and you would have nothing ;)

That energy was already there ,not created.contained in the highly enriched uranium 235 just waiting for convential explosives to start the chain reaction.
A bolder on top of a hill sitting still contains "potential energy" give it a push and once its rolling down the hill thats "kinetic energy";)
Isn't there a famous equation: Energy=mc-squared the M=matter if you have forgotten

Duh is talking about renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power :slap: However if we want to get into theory, theoretically mass should be able to be directly converted into energy according to that lovely equation, now somebody just needs to find a way to unlock this and also reverse it, I want to make platinum bullion!

Those "green" people, I see these wind farms going up all over especially on the dividing mountain ridge where I live.
one can make a argument, that the energy that they are recovering from the earths natural convection wind currents that the earth has established over millennium are now starting to cause climate changes since the wind that primarily moves heat and moisture is being blocked or slowed. Not allowing what we know as normal temperatures. Slowing lower altitudes winds, can change the barometric pressure and even move the jet stream/
Are these wind farms keep removing enough energy to alter the climate??? maybe not that much now but who knows where & how many these unsightly things will be placed, but not offshore of the Kennedy's compound.
while energy from the sun is used primarily by plants and trees to provide us with o2 and to warm our planet a tremendous amount gets wasted, but depending on the scale your are thinking in,is the sun really a renewable energy source?????
I do see solar panels viable as the price comes down, but commercial generating company's don't what that. Systems I design & install Geothermal heat pumps are a great alternative, for cooling and heating your home and cutting your electric bill by more than half as they are much more efficient the air/over heat pumps. up to 70%,
deep drilling through the earths crust we will find enougn energy in the heat that will sustain the earth energy problems for a long time if we can develope the technoology to reach it.
some who can't see past their noses or beleive what ever they read without proof, just makes the job harder since we can't agree.
getting way off topic, but a few physics clases need discussed here and there, better than the 15 year old who had sex 300 time before 15,that was a very informative post.in another section
