View Full Version : I think it's about time I re-do the loop.

When i first put the system together a few months back I had idle temps of anywhere from 30-40 now my idle temps are anywere from 40-50 and this is WITH EIST enabled for the lowest voltage setting ant 2.27 clock (3.40@1.4)

For someone who has never done it before I would like to know what is REALLY needed to do to freshen up the system.. I also would like to note my cooling might be just fine if i was to clean the dust buildup on the rad and switch the fans from pull to push but if I am gonna take everything apart I might as well re-do it entirely? Should I be taking the blocks apart? Worth it?

It might be worth it to take the MP-05 apart. I've never had mine start to clog on me, but I don't know what additive and how much you are using in your loop.

Taking the fans off and blowing any dust that's in the fins of the rad might help too.

I ran a no additive loop for 3 months with an mp-05, I opened it up and it was solid black. The majority of the pins were clogged as well. Im assuming that it was the rad's fault but I never really found out for sure. Either way nothing that some alcohol and vinegar couldnt fix.

Although I can appreciate buying new stuff and building a new loop I'm sure that if you just cleaned things up and made sure your blocks aren't clogged that you can get back to those temps.

I think just simply switching your fans to blow air through the rads will give some improvement right there. And if you dont know if its time to clean your system, then its time.

When my MP-05 SP LE would need cleaning my temps would rise. A good cleaning and everything would fall back into place.

Huh? Why do you say that? Typically, performance is very similar from fans being push or pull. The temp difference being about 1c usually. Pushing air through your rad vs pulling it isn't going to fix your temps. The biggest difference between push or pull is noise. Pushing air through the rad seems to be noisier than pulling.

@sider I say this because with my setup (120.1) and a TT thunderblade, i got a 3-4 C drop well on load with a p4 3.4 OC'ed to 3.9
Just my experience.

Well I think I am going to wait a little longer to re-do the loop when i upgrade to the 8800 series card. For now I will just add two fans to the rad and make them all blow the air out of the pc. Now what do I use to clean up the radiator in the pc could I use air conditioning freon blast or should I buy one of those dust-off canisters? And i use the micro-res and its about half full should I add more coolant? (it's at the divider in the middle)
