Vista and Administrator Privileges

I've been bumping heads with Vista lately and would like to learn to use the Adimistrator tools or whatever. I'm trying to tweak some game files in a new game (SHIV to be exact) and when I try to change the game files I'm told I don't have access. Is there a way to get around this?

you didnt get an admin account when you installed vista? enter in run prompt:
control userpasswords2

turn off UAC too (msconfig in run box, tools, disable uac, restart).
