I need a res that i can make at home in ten mins or so to bench test something out asap..what can be used?

I'm lost for ideas.

It needs to function like it would in a pc, so take into account....

Tupperware container. Soda bottle. Lots of duct tape!

I'm with the tubberware idea. if you drilled holes just right, you might be able to get a decent seal on the barbs and O rings. If you drilled holes just the right amount smaller than the barbs, you could have the barbs sort of cut their way into the plastic and seal up against the side with the O ring if you used a square container.. Might not be a perfect seal, but it would keep the leaks down pretty good for a bench test. Just keep a towel under the res. With the some pipe dope (plumbers putty), you could get it to seal tight. Would'nt ever put inside a rig, but would work for benching.

whenever i do a flush of my system, i just jab tubing into a distilled water conatiner that i get from the grocery store.

it might take a little siphoning to get the flow started but once it starts, you're golden.

99 cent container (including fluid) ftw.

Agree with the milk-carton type approach. In the very short timespan you are looking at I'd be uncomfortable with anything involving creating and sealing holes - it would seem that there's just too high a probability for leaks. For a jury-rigged res there's nothing that says the tubes have to pass through the walls. Just make sure the container is restrained so it won't tip over and the hoses are properly secured to the neck of the container.

I'm thinking - at least here in the states - one of those gallon water or milk plastic jugs with the handle. If it's at least half-filled that's ~4 lbs of weight keeping the container stable. I'd fashion a variation on a "larks head" with a heavy duty rubber band to keep the tubing snug (but not squished) against the jug's mouth so that the openings stay submerged (well, at least the INLET opening!) - pass the tubes through the rubber band, loop the rubber band through the jug handle, take that loop and pass the tubes through again and push them down through the jug opening towards the bottom of the jug. If needed take a "stick" (pencil, pen, etc.) and use it tourniquet-like to twist the rubber band loops together to take up slack and brace the end of the "stick" into the jug handle to keep it from spinning off like a propeller. This took way longer to write then a simple picture would help visualize but I don't have a milk jug or camera at my office. :)

That's the theme, I'm sure with some thought it can be improvised upon with better results.

I always have a cooler inmy room to chill beverages. I decided to put my top mounted res in it.

It didn't quite worked as well as I hoped. Kinda messy. I forgot I needed a spigot to drain the melted ice.So I tried, going straight to an ice box and ditched the res. I'll be using freezer gel packs instead to chill my Bawls... chills my water too.

I used a 1/2" spade bit, wrapped the barb thread like crazy w/ teflon tape, applied silicone thread sealer, and put a big glob of liquid gasket stuff.
It ain't much to look at, very ghetto like. heh, I'm so trailer park. :p:
But hey, it works.

So yea... maybe somthing like that

Mintiture Maide Orange jucie carten did the trick. I made the holes with some sissors then forced the barb threads to catch hold. Duct tape layers to make a seal and rethread the barb in.

I just need to try and get an air free system to test these guges and this time my presure were up whoo, 3.5psi, stock DDC stop, latets rev modded to 18W, blue impler, 12mm inlet, half in hose, DD RBX #5 nozle.

I took the gauge off and the flow is amazing off that Tee!!!

I also got bord and added some ice to see how could it;ll drop, all i got sadly as my heating is one the rad is near the house rad. Mind the rad on the wc setup was like an air con!!!

Have to say when a DDC is totaly air free and has some presure for it to push aganst it's totaly silent!

Photos of it all

There are 4 marking between 2.5 to 5 psi. So they must go

1 - 3
2 - 3.5
3 - 4
4 - 4.5

Mines on the 2nd after 2.5 psi so it must be 3.5psi..how ture i duno but presure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, now try a Tropicana OJ bottle and see if it's measurably better than the Minute Maid bottle. :)

I have a water temp probe that can screw into a G1/4 thread and was going to plug it into one of the inputs on the Striker... but I kinda like the idea of putting one of those in the drive bay above my reservoir and connect the probe up to it instead.

Looks sweet. Cant wait to see it all together. Let me know about the temp sensor.

It may go against the look I was going for... I am going for a elegant not too flashy look but very functional at the same time...
