Hi
I'm considering buying a Amd FX-60 CPU, and I wonder if it oc's well?
And wich mobo is best for Amd oc'ing?
I also got two 7900GTX cards, so I'd liked that the card got SLI support..

well the fx 60 is more than a year old but if you must have it, then you will need a good sckt 939 sli board....may i suggest:

these were the SLI 939 kings of their time

the reason I'm considering buying the FX 60 is because I think i get it for a good price; 3500kr (app. 590 USD). Is this a good price? The seller says that the cpu has a good oc stepping too...
What do you think?

$590 USD is damned high. They go for like $400 or something on Newegg. And DFI Expert > SLI-DR.

Ermmm...good price ? or a good deal for the seller ? :P
LOL.
With 590$ you can get a decent Core 2 Duo config ( mobo + cpu ) [ and even ram if you go down with the lower end CPUs ]

hmmm... Here in Norway a FX-60 costs app. 1000USD... But I can't in my wildest dreams imagine that it's worth so much!

If you want it that much, I am sure someone on here could buy it and send it to you for the lower US price. But other than that, if you have cheaper options with comparable performance, I would suggest those.

I bought my FX60 on ebay, it costed me total 500$. But I can't seem to get it over stock until I get some better cooling. I don't know on newegg, but on ebay I did get no promise on the part about stepping, did you? Even when I get my new cooler it's really random if I get to clock it much higher or not.
So it's really up to you if you think it's worth it or not :)
And to the others from U.S. ... It's really true that FX60 still costs over 1000$ here in Norway. On one webshop it costs 6800,- NOK + shipping. That's like 1100$.

Although I have SLI "enabled" on my expert, the SLI CLUB software on NVidia's site doesn't see it that way.

Where can I get a DFI Sli-Dr Expert ? ;D
I have never tried DFI (not so easy to get here in Norway) or AMD, so this could be interesting..:D
But does the stepping CCB2E 0536 SPMW on a FX-60 say something to you guys? The seller claims that this is a stepping that is known to be a good clocker..

I mean when it scans for SLI,
Not to say its not supported, just in my case, it doesn't want to aknowledge it. I am working on trying to change that as we speak.

Or should I rather consider a AM2 rig? I have laid my eyes on the DFI LANPARTY UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G and it ain't so expensive in the states.. :D
Here in Norway that card costs ALOT more..
But wich cpu would you recommend for a AM2 setup`?
Or should I stick with the FX-60 and s939 idea?

Being a AMD fan I hate to say it but I would not buy one right now as the intel c2d just kills it in every benchmark and OC's better.;)

Oh... so Core2Duo makes better benches..... of well then, then I'll just spit ut 1500$ for a new machine in a haste! Not! ;)
My dear lowboy... wait on AM3 and you'll see Intel thrashed out the window, ripping their hair off eating their hats :)
I got the CFX3200 for 939, but I wouldn't recommend that to anyone, to much hazzle with the uli controller :( AMONGST others!
And by the way... the only supplyer I know of in Norway who delievers DFI is netshop.no, might try that one out... the is NO OTHER board for me, that's for sure... I will never, NEVER go with Asus, Abit, Asrock, MSI or ANY other company if I want a board I want to overclock something with, whatever it is - DFI CAN DO IT! :D

Hmm... I just want to get some AMD oc experience.. I saw the new DFI board, and it looked nice. But when is AMD producing AM3? Or will the new Barcelona be the AM2 socket?

939 is K8, and I believe AM2 also is K8, but for some reason they are jumping over K9 (canine = dog :D) and going straight for the K10 - which is AM3. AMD is going for the quad-core on K10, and some others on xs ment that AM3 was to be backwards compatible with AM2, but I don't know... nobody really knows until there's a press-release or something :)

But I was looking for some more high-end cpu and mobos.. I tought about buying the DFI board with a FX-62 cpu. Or is it some other AMD cpus that you recommend? I don't think I'll go for s939 since I have DDR2 on my rig right now. By the way, wich ram do you recommend for AMD oc'ing? Low latency or alot MHz?

I have a set of G.Skill PC4000 HZs, 602
They and two or three other "weeks" I think........can't remember right now, but there were some really good ram sets that came out, and were able to like like 270-290 FSB for DDR1. I have hit 290 on mine, but have yet to really work out their max stable FSB.
if I find out their max FSB, then I can decide how much I want to sell them for when I do.
