im plan on using 1/4" jacks to rca to hook up to my ppa2 amp
then to my senn hd650 cans

currently im just using a cheapy 1/8 jack splitter to rca then straight rca to amp

what would be a good soundcard to use.. err. better

the envy variants like maudio 192, esi, mia ?

or emu 404, 1212m?

I just got the HT OMEGA CLARO 7.1 and I can't say enough good things about it. I will never own another Creative product.

X2. Like the 0404, except it has much better compatibility, and is much easier to use. You will want a soundcard with unamped outputs, otherwise your ppa2 won't be doing much. The Juli@ is unamped.

the juli@ is a cool card tho.
with its flip around connector function.
and its envy based too.

yesterday i got a really good deal on a maudio audiophile 192 . for about 40$

i think i would really need to try the cards suggested first.

wow. with that kind of deal, i don't see why you'd bother with anything else unless you do a lot of mixing, then the Juli@ is the best choice.

there is one problem with the Juli@ though, it lacks anything to handle your midi devices... i know that midi interfaces are becoming out-moded these days, but for someone who does a lot of mixing and uses old samples, that's something to consider. if you need midi, then you'll want the Terratec Aureon 7.1 Universe.

these are only my opinions, mind.

bah i dont use midi or any other stuff
i just listen to music.
so anyways. since i have gotten the card.
i made myself some interconnects.
bought some dhlabs BL-1 cable and some cardas rca and mono plugs.
(i know.. i know. this is a trivial matter. but the cardas were cheaper then like eichman or wbt or lok so dont flame me)
wrapped it with PET carbon sleeve.

my HD650 sound alot better now then OB sound.
the BL1 cable has clean highs with pretty good bass.

i got all this for cheap.
the cables only cost 3.50$ per foot. (WOW)
the connectors ran35$
8'x 3.50 = $28 + 35 = !! $63 for 2 cables. !! oh. i love good bargains.

note: i listen to music withOUT any EQ adjustments so its as natural as it can get from the recording studio.
