Hi Everyone. I hope that i did not post this in the wrong forum. I have not been here for awhile, i thought i remember a memory forum, but i could not find it anyways. I built a system that includes the following:
GA-965P-DS3 LGA
G.Skill HZ Memory which i think is this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231065
and a e6400 CPU overclocked to 3.6ghz.

Originally when i built the system i only needed 2GB of memory. Now i have upgraded to Vista i'm in need of more memory. I saw at anandtech that newegg had a good deal for the buffalo firestix located here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820150054

People were saying that they overclocked pretty well for the price. How would this compare to the g.skill hz stuff i have? I just don't want to have to lower the overclock i have obtained. Of course it has been about 4 months since i built this system so what constitutes a good overclock with RAM might have changed. So if i'm needing 2GB more of ram do you think it would be safe to go with the buffalo ram and not have to worry about having to decrease my overclock or do you think i should pick up another set of G.SKILL hz RAM?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
ncage

It would probably be better to go with another set up the HZ's as there wouldn't be any compatibility issues.

If you need more than 2gb, even on Vista...all that means is you have not proper tweaked your Vista install, or you're not running very efficiently (defragged, lowering background processes, spyware checks, virus checks, turning off un-needed special effects, etc etc).

Sorry bud since you don't know what i run how in the world would you know how much memory i need? Yes i do definitively need more than 2GB. My needs are different than most peoples. Try running 1-2 Virtual Machines (VMWare), Visual Studio .Net 2005, SQL Server Management Studio, Outlook 2007, all running at once. I have not noticed Aero taking up that memory. Im sorry but i DO need more than 2GB memory.

If that's the case, go ahead and choose the HZ :)
