I don't see one but if a unit is purged properly and properly vacuumed you shouldnt actually need one.

Great build for the first time. Hope mine gets as good as yours.

You should listen to the guys, I think that the condenser price is something like the price of 6M of copper tubing :)

One more quiestion, if you don`t mind. Am I seeing wrong or you didn`t put the cap tube around the suction line ?

Hmmmm. Now that looks familiar.

I agree on the condensor note. A proper condensor will give you better results. Or at least a fan on that coil for now.

Good job for your first unit!

Few things I would do though. Some of which have already been mentioned;

1) Add a fan to your coil of pipe, or buy a condenser... it will increase efficiency a lot!

2) A filter/drier would be a good idea (if you haven't already got one) and may reduce the chance of any blockages etc, unless you purged all joints and vacuumed it out (which I doubt people would do in their first unit).

3) Wrap your captube round the suctionline! You can probably gain a LOT :)!

4) Try getting hold of some r290 (or propane), the boiling point is -42c so if you can condense it properly you will see much better temps.

5) I don't think you need quite as many coils on your suctionline before it re-enters the compressor. It might trap oil. I'm not saying it will, but it might just happen, and that's not good lol!


And don't worry about it looking messy, my cascade looks stupid but as long as it works I ain't really bothered :D! A lot of units on here look ghetto but it's the performance that counts. And you're only learning too!

Not bad at all for a first time build, but as everyone else has said, get yourself a condensor. In my experience they have been the hardest part to source but you'll see some serious improvements. R290/R22 will also be a great improvement, R12 is absolutely evil. As NoL said, wrap that capillary tubing around the suction line, you'll see a minor increase in efficiency there. I'm guessing you coiled the suction line to combat the vibrations of a solid-copper suction line, good call there ;) How long and what diameter is your cap tube, adjusting that alone could make a huge difference.

You want to know pressure upon the side of a high pressure

You will need access port (schrader valves) on high pressure side (between compressor and evaporator) and another on low pressure side (somewhere between exit of evaporator and compressor) You should have a service port on the compressor that will serve as a low pressure port. Using these ports you can connect gauges and read your high and low side pressures.
