Well yea I know that

;)

I've heard the 2.4C/2.6C is best for air, and the 2.8C best for phase/water.

This true?

I think that statement is true if you want balance of both high mhz and fsb.... but if your after the highest mhz possible then I would guess the 3.0....

I love my 2.8! :)

I got it up to 3985 with pelts and water. :)

I would say 2.4/2.6 on air cooling, cause youll be able to get a really high FSB and still get alot of speed and possibly max out your air overclock

2.8 if you have water/phasechange as youll be able to keep those high clocks more stable, and you have more FSB headroom to work with

3.0 if you want MAX SPEED

If money is no issue, the 2.8 for sure! :) It seems that you get on average ~800 MHz more than stock on air with default volts for all of these chips, so if you've got the $$$, the 2.8 looks good. :)
