I was wondering if that boosted Prommie is worth its 150€ extra.
Anyone could tell me which one to go for? MrIcee, OPP, JCviggen (when DHL stops their strike :D)...
Just wondering, I could go for a Mk I for 350€ without kit or a 500€ Mk II without top with kit :)

Knowing you, you'll probably break either so doesnt make much difference ;)
also, i dont think you can find a II for 500.

thats a little over 400 usd...... thts not bad.. is that a new unit price or used?
i was thinking of buying a used one once i get the money.
from what ive read of 3 people that have a mach2 so far, 2 of them actually had WORSE temps and overclocks with it and 1 managed 5mhz more fsb. not exactly encouraging.
ill buy one anyway for the much better power handle so theres non of these problems with it holding reset.

I got mine second hand from toofast who has upgraded to a MK2.
As the MK2 is out there are a few more second hand ones about, providing you get get it deliveded safely a prommy is pretty good to buy second hand.
If anything by getting toofasts's baby I was getting a guaranteed good unit

On the subject of buying a used prommie.... is $490.00 too much to pay for a 3 month old unit?

With kit, top and shipping? Nah, don't think so...
Here in Belgium, there's a §§§§load of 'em, so you can't actually get good prices :)

I'm afraid the shipping costs will be huge for something that weighs near 30 KG and this big... not to mention the risk of it being damaged along the way

Considering the fact that its not available in Malaysia (i think), it should be a good buy. Just make sure you have insurance on it cuz people don't know what *Handle with Care* means.

yea...
it already got semi-lost... spent 3 days in Brussels for unknown reason... then suddenly the tracking showed that it was "ready to be picked up by recepient at his request" ... only I didnt request anything like it... so 5 calls and 2 days later I've only got half of it :(
At least the driver who brought these parts knew about a second part

I'm curious to what it can do :)
I'm also curious what it'll do on R404a :) Because once you're used to that stuff there's just no way back to 134a ;)
apparently the prom itself was on a different truck and the driver thought it should've been already delivered...;but as to how and why he knew... no idea. they better hurry the f*ck up!

As the MachII uses the same compressor as the MachI, i am really interested to see some more results on how it oes in real world cooling. Haven't seen too many reviews so far.

I am a bit sceptical that a Mach II on R404a will do much better than a Mach I on R404a.
The reasoning is that it has the same compressor and condensor.
The cap tub might be longer on a Mach II, but this should be modified when you convert to R404a anyway.
The other non-functional changes such as papst fans, pretty LCD, more flexible thermal bus arent going to affect performance. But they are still nice to have.
The only possibility is that the changes to the evaporator will enable it to outperform the Mach I when both are running R404a.
I'll be interested to hear about the results, but aint too hopeful.

Does this HAVE TO be done? I thought I could just exchange the R134a with R404a and be on my way...

right here's the story as i've gathered it :)
- packages are marked 1/2 and 2/2 , one is the unit itself, the other containing case, LCD and CPU kit. I received the latter package, even though it was marked as rejected (which doesnt show in DHL's system)
- DHL's computer apparently shows NO packages delivered to me... the guy was quite surprised to hear I've already gotten one part of it
- the package is now "on hold" at some facility because its incomplete and they dont know what to do with it. The guy I called with was going to notify the place in question that they have to deliver it since i've already got the other. But he couldnt even be sure it'll get here tomorrow
anyway, there seems to be no explanation why the packages were seperated, why one was delivered and marked "rejected" even though i'd been at home all the time, and where on earth the second package has been all this time... now i just hope they finally figure it out and get it here in one piece (which seems not quite sure now looking at the places it has visited so far)
tracking looks interesting ;)

No it doesnt have to be done, but if you want to get the most out of R404a you should also do this mod.
