Pretty self explanatory. Trying to decide between the ACS3 version and the Superclocked version. But since the only difference in clock speeds are 4mhz in the core; does this mean that the cooler on the ACS3 version is just a gimmick and the card is already topped out?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

the card usually is not topped out from the factory. I would go with the cheapest stock card you can find and install an aftermarket cooler on it, perhaps from zalman, or alike. You will most likely get the same or better overclocks as the superclocked cards offer

You can see I have a rather lame system and a good card. I reckoned i would go the extra $$$ for the XFX-XXX at 580 simply because it would do it's processing even more quickly and the 915 chipset and 2004 proc could stand some help.

If that is all upside down and backward, I merely offer the testimony the extra pixels and shaders were worth it for me and the VGA card response made playing games better. Actually even with the water cooling I only raised the total rig parts cost $200 over the old parts cost.
Dump the 7800s, the hell with small variations. They are all reference cards pretty much.
