Hi everyone,
I recently purchased an AthlonXP Thoroughbred B 2000+ cpu & since have been trying desperately to unlock the damn multiplier.
As yet I have had no luck. I have tried two different wire methods but the havn't worked. The first did nothing and the second set the auto multiplier to 5 and wouldn't post on any other setting. The multi is at 12.5 and although I have my 8k3a+ at 172fsb(2150Mhz) I know the cpu can do a whole lot better than that as I have also lowered the core voltage from 1.6 to 1.5 without any problems . My agp, pci cards and ram won't allow me to set the fsb much higher so I need to unlock the multiplier, can anyone help? Please!!!
The stepping of the cpu is AXDA2000DUT3C AIUHB0315MPMW. Acoording to what I have read about the numbers on the chip it was originally slated to be a 2800+. Thanks in advance!!

This was the second wire method

i dont think your motherboard supports higher multipliers so you would need to hardcode it using the bridges.... i think. if you want less than 12.5x then it should be unlocked stock.

Hey Emericana,
My board will allow 13x(which is 12.5 anyway) 14x & 15x. It does go lower but unfortunately that doesn't help me.Thanks.

i'd try the wire trick that SpiderMAN suggested.

you may want to be careful. i have an older MSI board that does not work with CPUs that have multipliers above 12.5x.

I had endless trouble unlocking tbreds on epox 8k5a2+ boards (which are similar to your 8k3a+). Finally I gave up and hardcoded the L3 bridges... you may have to do the same.

Hello peoples and thanks for all the help. I found this link somewhere in these forums http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html so I went there and sort of found what I was looking for. I wired the cpu so the multiplier was locked at 14x and it worked!! Unfortunately the cpu wasn't as keen about the idea as I was. I had to pump the voltage from 1.5 @ 2150mhz to 1.85 @ 2408mhz. It was way too hot for my volcano 7+ for my liking anyway. It wasn't very stable either so I decided to undo it and went back to my original 172fsbX12.5multi2150mhz. Now it doesn't even like that and it is still very hot. It is stable at 166fsb 2083mhz but even at that speed I now have to have the volts at 1.6 & it's about 6-10c hotter than before. I should have started with 13 or 13.5x to see how it went. I guess that's what you get for f*#kin with stuff, but that's what I bought it for :( Thanks again for your help people.Bye

I've been using my 'puter for the last couple of hours givin' it a flogging on Vietcong and GP4 and everything seems to be back to normal now!! WEIRD:confused:
