Some guys in the U.K. acquire the rights to the Commodore name and sell a boutique gaming rig hoping to use the cachet Commodore has amongst the PC gamers (most of which weren't not even alive while the Commodore was at it's peak) to slice themselves off a big part of the gaming PC market? I guess the emulator is nice, but who has played these games? No cheaper way to play these "classics"?:D

C64 is my first love and I've played all famous games on C64. A lot of C64/C128 emulators for DOS, Windows, Linux and other OS-es can be found online.
Anyway, the new Commdore has nothing to do with C64. It is nothing new and nothing unseen. I would like to see a Commodore high-end mainboard with Intel P35(Bearlake) chipset and wattercooled and OC-ed CPU & GPUS.

I wish them luck! But man those cases are disgusting!

Maybe they should target the lower gaming segment soon - all those kids and parents that go shoping for a "computer for games" could be satisfied also.

Maybe the should even go down the route of making it more "just for games" by optimysing the windows and the whole initial apperance of the comp. -something simmilar to XSOS maybe. - I doesnt have to run "every possible thing" from the get go. Sell upgrades as software modules.

The thing they are selling now can be build by anyone and many of their potential customers know how to do that by themselves anyway.

This is not Commodore, this is just PC! with Commodore logo on case ... nothing special.

nothing special.
AFAIK they will be the first 'gaming computer' firm to aim it's products to europeans, so it's a bit special for us euros.

I think you can buy at least Alienware PC's in Europe, but they have (had?) massive price premium (tax, shipping, 1 $ = €) on them if you happened to live in Europe and I doubt the warranty works that well here either, though I have no experience with any of them.

It's still an upgrade from the Acer, HP, Fujitsu-Siemens etc. machines, if these come at comparable prices to the US market 'gaming computers'.

Now, I'd love to see them make laptops too. The only firm that operates in Europe/UK that I know of is rock. :\

They obviously couldn't make it with proprietary hardware. That would be nearly impossible. Development and subsequent purchasing costs would be insanely high and performance more than likely would be less than that of mainstream hardware. However, I'm glad to see the Commodore name again. It will be good to see more competition in the ultra high-end gaming market.

Commodore Amiga was best pc ever. Workbench 3.0 = best o.s. ever. IMHO a Workbench gui on a buntu or other quality linux distro would rock...

^^ That is exactly what I thought... It seams they are aiming to high (price wise)
They should have made some kind of deal with some competent group and make it look more "console like" when a kid turns it on. - DX10 and all

But I guess that would require to much effort, to bad. It is not unique this way and will only get badmouthed by the enthusiast community. :(

Nothing New compared to Alienware.
