I got to thinking about it. I have a 2200+ t-bred. If/when I get a 2500+ and OC it to 2.2ghz, making it a 3200+, will it perform 1ghz faster than my 2200+? That would just be plain awesome... and even more awesome considering the fact that I would hopefully be able to go over 2.2ghz, but 2.2 would prob be fine! :D thanks!

no, it would perform more like 500-600mhz faster. AMD ratings are kinda messed up.

Yeah, since the barton cores have bene introduced AMD + ratings are all voer the place!

Best way is to get a copy of SiSoftware sandra and do the CPU benchmarks on that, then compare them to a XP2200+ that way u'll be able to see exactly how much faster it is.

so, how does a 2500+ compare to my dad's 2.53ghz P4?

and I need a link to a review telling me how an sk-7 compares to slk 800, cause I here they do about he same. if so, I want to get the sk-7 for $13 less. thanks

should I buy it from newegg or excaliber? which has the best steppings currently? what is the best stepping... and if I get it at excaliber, can I ask for that stepping in the Comments section of the order process, and them ship that to me? thanks!!

They are pretty close in performance. Within a couple of degrees C depending on the fan you are using.

and about my question with 2500+s, steppings, excaliber... can I get them to ship me a certain model, stepping, date code, etc of it by asking in the Comments section in the order process? If so, what's the most OCable?

I'd order from excaliber, cause they are smaller company than newegg :) although newegg does usually process and ship things faster IMHO

Bartons have been pretty much hit and miss as far as steppings/weeks are concerned..

so... in other words I don't guess it really matters who I get it from. besides newegg's is cheaper for the retail box and free shipping. that'll work for me!
