Intel prepares to launch its Core 2 Duo E6x50-series, new E4000-series models and the Pentium E2100-series

The first upgrade of Intel's Conroe architecture is right around the corner. Roadmaps reveal the refreshed Conroe with a 1333 MHz front-side-buarriving in Q3’07, around the same time of Intel’s Q3’07 price cuts. The new Core 2 Duo E6x50-series pricing will undercut pricing of current Core 2 Duo E6x00-series processors.

With the introduction of Core 2 Duo E6x50-series processors, the entire Intel Core 2 Duo desktop lineup will fall below the $300 price point. The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 takes the top spot of Intel’s Core 2 Duo lineup at $266 per processor, in 1,000 unit quantities. Intel clocks the Core 2 Duo E6850 at 3.0 GHz, higher than last year’s flagship Core 2 Extreme X6800 and it costs a fraction of the X6800’s $999 launch price.

Slotted below the Core 2 Duo E6850 is the 2.66 GHz E6750 at $183. At the bottom end of the Core 2 Duo E6x50 family are the E6550 and E6540 processors clocked at 2.33 GHz, which cost $163 per processor, in 1,000 unit quantities. Intel’s Core 2 Duo E6540 differs from the rest of the 1333 MHz front-side bus Core 2 Duo lineup because it does not have support for Intel’s Trusted Execution Technology, also known as TXT.

Intel will also launch two more Core 2 Duo E4000-series processors. The Core 2 Duo E4400 will arrive next month clocked at 2.0 GHz for $133 per processor, in 1,000 unit quantities. In Q3’07, the Core 2 Duo E4400 will drop down to $113 with the introduction of the E4500. The Core 2 Duo E4500 clocks in at 2.2 GHz and takes over the $133 per processor, in 1,000 unit quantities, price point. Intel will slowly phase out the Core 2 Duo E4300 processor in Q3’07.

Intel will introduce the first new Pentium desktop product since it switched over to the Core naming scheme in June. Two Pentium E2100 models will launch, the E2160 and E2140. These models are dual-core Conroe-based processors with 1MB of shared L2 cache. The 1.80 GHz Pentium E2160 fills the $84 price point while the 1.6 GHz Pentium E 2140 costs $10 less per processor, in 1,000 unit quantities.

E4500 = budget overclocking dream

364FSB * 11 = 4GHz :slobber:

Depending how harshly they're binned.

E2140 1.60 GHz 1MB 800 MHz $74 is dual Core?
Still my dreams is Q6400

Interesting, but when are we going to see the new 45nm line of Intels CPU's

Thanks and do I have to change my board If I want to run one of the new series (6x50) CPU's?

i'm wondering what those 1000 units mean for a small country like mine(Belgium)??Probably Belgium(again)is the WORST country to live in when you look at hardware:soap:
the cheapest shop in my neighbourhood sells a E6600 for 305 euro's:(

same price here :) so don't worry

indeed theese new prices are very sweet

and knowing amd has to offer something better in both price and performance if it wants to stay in the game - even sweeter :)

yeah, maybe but on the other hand...I always had Intel(now surfing on a prehistoric P4,lol)and never had any problems(except for one broken PSU,so that's not bad)with it.
I'm not an extreme hardware-fanatic,like most of the xs-members,so i think i stick to Intel.I don't want the fastest machine,i only want one that's smooth:)

So i think i choose a Q6700 with 2 R600's roflol

3Ghz stock Conroe kicks ass, hope there priced like there saying, especially in rip off britain.

Q1 2008.

Edit: Bah, I can't find the source where I saw that, but it was either posted on dailytech not to long ago or the vr-zone or something.

We can always dream.

If its sub £300 then :woot:

$70 for a dual core? maybe i can find a cheap 865 HTPC board... that would be perfect mom...could put my old BH-5 in it. :)

45nm server parts late Q4 I believe.

HamidFULL: Q6400 was canceled IIRC and Q6400 actually exist if you buy the Xeon brand :D

xB0n3s: depends if your board support 1333 fsb.

uOpt's like me. We want to see what's coming out in dual socket after clovertown.I've seen the roadmap but it would be nice to hear some info beyond that..
8 cores in a board is just so boring..Time for 16:D

3ghz conroe doesn't kick ass when you play sumpreme commander at a 81*81 map :D

it gets suddenly choppy and :banana::banana::banana: :D

lol i think every processor doesn't kick ass when you play that game:)

Quads would at least help with the game a little more. Just the main core on a dual core system gets basically all processing information, while the second core takes a while to load up with Pathfinding and the AI, but will eventually hit a point where it becomes the bottleneck and the frame rates go through the floor then.

No, I need a dual-core with unlocked multiplier for one particular workstation. Right now it has an early Conroe E6600 at 3.6 GHz, but I need faster faster faster. This is for a single-thread workload

So the hope is for a X6900 or whatever at 3.2 stock and unlocked multiplier.

(absolute week-long dual-mprime stability required)

You can get a PentiumD 805 dual core for ~$70. It's Netburst, but still dual core!
