"The OCZ Vindicator looks great and has six heat pipes, but its performance is no where near the level it needs to be for us to recommend the cooler"

Oh my days... :(

I thought this was a clone of the Sythe Ninja Rev.B ?

this can't be right....the cooler should almost match the best out there...
maybe the heatpipes are duds or something...or maybe the reviewers :p

This is the only review out there.

A few problems with this review:

1 - No ambient temps provided
2 - No sound/RPM rating.. if the cooler is sitting on a 10 CFM fan while the others are running much louder with much higher CFM, it makes a huge difference.

Bad, bad heatsink review. I am starting to not like anything coming from legitreviews. Their PSU reviews suck and so do their cooling reviews. Who the fudge measures total system power at idle/load WITH DIFFERENT HEATSINKS.

Did u miss something ? They mentioned about the room temperature and off course they were using the stockfan came with the Box HSF

To test out the OCZ Vindicator CPU cooler, I ran it on our Intel Core 2 Duo test platform which was then run at default and overclocked settings. All the temperatures were obtained by using Core Temp Beta 0.94 after sitting at idle for one hour and then again under full processor load for 30 minutes. I used two profiles to test the Vindicatorat. The room temperature was kept a constant 20C (68F) for all benchmarking.

Strangely I said the Vindicator was completely gimmicky when the press release was posted in XS News, and a lot of people just scoffed at me. And it appears that it is in fact a gimmick.

What I am saying is who knows how much better can it perform with a better fan.

It might be a bad review but we won't know until other reviews appear. Hopefully the Vindicator is vindicated. :D

What I am saying is who knows how much better can it perform with a better fan.

Did you not read the review at all? At the very end we changed the fan to an AeroCool XtremeTurbine 120mm fan that puts out 89.39CFM at 1800RPM's and found that it was able to knock off roughly 5C at load.

The results shocked the heck out of us too and they sent out two of these heat sinks and both performed the same. As for your comments on the sound levels our meter doesn't go that low... The fan was well below 35dB and the noise level in the room was above that, so it couldn't have been measured. Not to mention the chipset fan on the 680i is much louder. Don't take my word on it though go buy one ;)

Not sure why you guys think this would be a bad review... The site has been around for five years and it's really not that hard to test a heat sink... Tough crowd over here!

sounds alot like scythe infinity i tested, the stock 46.5cfm scythe fan is just too puny to do the job... >> http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=3211

better fan = better temps

nice... I was going to do a chart to show the differences between fans, but most of my 120mm fans are between 40-50CFM and had little to no impact on the temps. That Delta you got there is a monster... I still got my 80mm Delta screamer and plug it in from time to time to remember what a real fan sounds like...

thanks.. delta fan does come in handy at times hehe

also check out this the aerocool 80+ cfm fan you used might not be the best fan for the job http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=137250 ?

89cfm @1800rpm does look a bit suss for ratings wise.. my TT 120x25mm 81cfm fan runs at 3100 rpm and has higher air pressure than my Panaflo 120x38mm 103cfm fan!

See I was so unhappy with the review, I didn't bother reading the last page.

I like fair reviews. Once I see a bit of bias, regardless of the product's performance, I get edgy.

Here is a second review:

http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/OCZ_Vindicator/index.shtml

"Even with its slower and quieter fan, the Vindicator performs well and should not be ignored as your next possible choice of performance coolers. Based solely on specifications and installation, the OCZ Vindicator CPU Cooler rocks!"

again so bad from OCZ!

OCZ is not BAD! :slapass:

C'mon guys one review that uses the stock fan just won't do for you, now will it? We were going for "quiet time" for the "average" user, not you Xtreme types. The design is very good and with some more serious fanage applied you should see some much better results. You guys never run anything stock anyway (or maybe secretly you do!)

This review seems to take into account that the fan supplied is 40cfm at 19db!

http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/OCZ_Vindicator/index2.shtml
Put a fan more suited to your use and I'm sure you will see some much better numbers.

For every customer that demands more fanage, we would get 50 complaints that the cooler is to loud. Make sense?

for god's sakes it's a scythe ninja through and through. the ninja is fine especially for lower flow systems.

I agree, sometimes quieter is better *at stock at least* and I run stock on all of my non gaming machines.
