I'm helping a friend build a pretty high end system, and he wants an intel. I'm a big AMD guy and I haven't really dealt with intel in a while, and I just wanted to know what is considered the best chipset for the p4 right now. I'm planning to put a 2.8 or a 3.0 cpu in it, and probably a gig of pc3700. Anyone have a recommendation of a chipset or a specific motherboard? For the system, I'm thinking

3.0 800fsb
some kind of motherboard
2 x 512mb twinmos pc3700
160gb 8mb hd
radeon 9800 pro
audigy 2 platinum
logitech z-680's??
and maybe throw in a prometia for cooling (is this thing hard to set up? I've built a lot of computers before never anything this extreme for cooling) anyone know where to get one in the US?

Welcome to the Xtreme Forums m1ke101 !! glad to see you here :)

I suggest the Abit IC7 or the Asus P4C800 both are good boards, I think the Asus is sorta king of the hill right now.

go with the 2.4c, they all hit around the same speeds, but the 2.4 will have a much higher fsb
