suppose no chance of cutting their size down and weight with it?
i always see them big, so im guessing you need it that big or cooling power goes down the drain?
either that or a smaller unit would cost a fortune..

just interested to know

cheers :-p

The compressor and condeser make them a certain size. Of course, you can have em smaller than Vapochill, but they will take up a little space.

As said, a phase unit 'can' be lighter but you really do sacrifice the temps that way.

Besides that, a standard phase unit, not incl. the case, is around 10-15kg. You might make one closer to 8kg if you use a smaller lighter compressor but you're not knocking it down to nothing and your cooling tends to be a lot less powerful.

It depends what you're after, and there are some alternative compressors that work ok, but when it comes down to it a compressor is a heavy thing, and the more powerful is the more heavy, and there's nothing that's really going to change that.

Cheers

Cooling power and practicality (?) are somewhat proportinal to cooling capacity. You could always get an air- or watercooler.

Who would want it less cumbersome ? :P

Nothing wrong with systems that take up an entire desk to cool a small box :p: But like the others have said as you try to drop weight by using a smaller compressor your capacity will drop. I guess the idea of heavy is a personal opinion, I don't LAN so my system sits in the same position for months so I don't care that the combined computer, bench station, and single stage weighs close to 45 kg. Always possible to build a ss in a large case and make it easier to tote around but that'll require some custom work.
