Hi all.... this is gonna be my first Intel rig and Im still confused on the difference between the Springdale and the Canterwood besides the chipset ofcourse.... My goal for this rig is to reach 300fsb and the highest 3dmark possible. Would a P4P800 overclock, fsb wise, as high as a P4C800? Ill be getting a 2.4C to go with the mobo and this will be watercooled.... Also, does anyone know if the vdimm mod for the P4P is the same as P4C? I dont mind paying the extra dough for the Canterwood if it will give me a better overclock but if the diff is just bell & whistles then Id rather save the money.... thanks.

From what I've seen, the CW is just faster. You may get a slightly better FSB overclock out of the SD, but it probably will not perform as well as the CW at less FSB.

the difference is quite small.
so I'd say go with the board that got the features you want.
if its ports in terms of FW and USB or OC capabilities.
let that choose rather than chipset.

If your goal is to ahcieve the highest 3DMark score, than get the Canterwood. The Springdales do clock well, but the Canterwoods will out score them on the high end of the FSb range...even if the Springdales get a few extra FSB.
Practically speaking the Springdale has the better performance/price point. But for top scores, the Canterwood is the way to go.

Thanks guys.... yeah I think im gonna get the P4C800.... Im sure that the 2.4C will reach its limit before the mobo does so a P4P might not get me higher clocks... .... I just hope Im able to hit 20K with the Intel....
