I'm building this computer for my friend, specs are @ the first machine of my signature. I once booted into windows and run stuff fine. After I installed the Ati control panel and drive, the computer asks me to restart, so i did as i were told. This is the problem:
The computer wil get stuck at the very beginning where it tests for the RAM and CPU, and the font for the CPU specs (like the specification for the CPU speed and infomation on the CPU) are messed up. Specifically, first of all, it reconizes the CPU as 1.5G instead of 3.0, and underneath it has a line saying "CPU B~". No matter how i restart or turn off. It never goes pass this point anymore.
I also tried removing the BIOS battery and clearing cmos and unplugging power cable and motherboard power cable, but none of them worked.
Sighz.... The system was so sweet just a while ago.. Please help me out guys.
Thx so much

Heh this thread title has my name in it! Guess I should reply :P
Pop the CMOS battery out. Take something metal and connect the two battery connectors in the battery plug for a 30 seconds, put it back in and try firing up. Best way to totally erase the settings.
Also, make sure ya unplug the PSU totally before you do this.
If it's a messed up setting (and something not fried) this method should get you back up and running.
Another thing, try diff. sticks of mem, or moving the mem chips to diff. slots.

i'll try your CMOS clearing way by connecting with a metal thing.
I'm sure i have unpluged my PSU completely before i've cleared the CMOS and do many troubleshooting. As i've said, i had got this baby up running for a while, but afterI installed the Ati control panel and drive, the computer asks me to restart, so i did as i were told; and the problem occurs.
Help help,, thx
any comments will be very appreciated.

If you ever get it to boot - I'd go to control panel - add/remove - and delete the control panel & drivers.
Boot into safe mode afterwards and use DriverCleaner to delete any remnants of the drivers. After that just reboot and reinstall drivers again.
Also try going to default settings if it's overclocked at all right now to troubleshoot. Good luck!

I suggest you pop in a diff video card so you could boot into your os and remove the ati drivers and control panel as stated above.
then reboot then try disabling fastwrite and 8x then shut down and put your ati radeon check id fastwrite and 8x is disabled. then install Good luck
nice system :)

Problem SOLVED!! Yay. Thx you guys for all your help. I just wanna share the experience with you guys so you guys are aware of my mistake and take something into consideration.
The config is the first config in my sig. The problem was the SLK-900U was probably clipping down too hard on the mounting bracket cuzing this error. I changed to stock HSF and everything was normal again. Anyone had this combination??

hehe thx man. I'm getting 6731 on 3dMarks03 just by overclocking the 9800pro. System is still stock. I think there could be a lot of head room for my system. I'll keep you guys updated.
PS: the system spec is the first rig in my sig.
Thx again
