Kick-ass...I just noticed that this chip has the new packaging that we saw pictures of some time back.

Or maybe not so kick-ass if you have to modify any of the bridges as I think it will be harder.

if you ask me the low multi on the 1700s is perfect for ocing them with 200+ fsb speeds, theres really no need in unlonking the multis anyway, unless you have a prommie and are aiming for the 3g of course ^^

this is one of those new packages for the XP, notice how the bridges are no longer in the open, unlocking them might become quite hard (higher XP rated Athlons of course! :) )

Well, at least it doens't look like any of the L1 bridges are cut. So hopefully the NF2 boards will unlock them w/o any mods.

I picked up one of these yesterday and am running it in my Epox 8k5a. 1.75v 12.5x192=2400, just as they advertised. The chip can run faster but my gf3ti200 card is not cooperating. Corsair xms pc3200 2 2 2 5 1T.

And thanks for the info on this chip! Too bad you can't get your FSB any higher. I assume you can't get over a 12.5 multi?

I'd love to get one of the new 1700+'s but alas my mobo/video card is limited to 176mhz fsb...

I'm sure my current 1700+ will run faster than 2211mhz but I'll never know with this setup... I'm waiting for the Athlon64 for my next upgrade.

is this only the new 1700s with the 12.5 and above locked because mine goes as high as 17(the highest ive tryed)

docyt, I think it depends on your mobo. My Epox won't give me over 12.5 with my 1700+, although it gives me all multis with my 2100+. I hear Abits do them all with 1700+s.

Unfortunately there never proved to be a need to. Aircooled it wouldn't do more than 2100 @ about 1.9v.

minw will post 2.5ghz boot into windows, but even with a slk900 and 68cfm delta, @1.85v She burns up.. 52c load and probly would have gotten higher.. my room temp is roughly 26c~24c.

So this chip will way on water or for you ppl in cooler states. im in calif, and afternoons it can get as hot as 85~90F in my room. (a/c sucks and costs to much to run) so. This is an awesome cpu. cant imange what it would do in a prommy.

Well Dissolved, I guess well see soon what they'll do in a prommy. I got one on the way... I hoping for something that will beat my current xp2800@2800.
I know its prolly a long shot, but for $60 its not too big a loss...
Plus I'm sure someone around here would take it off my hands :)

why would u buy a 1700+ to replace a barton at 2.8ghz? :rolleyes:

ud need about 3ghz from this 1700+ to compare to that 2.75ghz barton you know?

Its not a barton... I wish :) Its an old 2800.... The problem with it is that my ram and mobo will do atleast 240 if not higher on the FSB.. this chip wont do over 220. I'm hoping that maybe one of these 1700's will let me get the best of both worlds....
Even if it only matches my 2800, if will let me do 240 I'll be happy
(prolly not for long though :) )

hmm, i had that prob with my 2100+ also.. i havent tested higher fsb. so far 11x220 has ran run95 stable for 30mins or more.. but my temps are very high. i dunno why. i know its 200+mhz faster then my 2100+ but at lower voltage. so ill see what i can do.

Even then the Barton will still out perform the 1700 in certain areas...that extra on die cache is always a definet plus...

mine is way unstable in 3d.. exact setup from my 2100+ and this 1700+ runs alot hotter with only 100 more mhz. these might do good with voltage and better cooling. but either my hsf isnt set right, or these babies just get to damn hot

Just got mine today...runs up to 2.1 on default voltage...running my back up board (8KHA+) until the Asus board gets hot flashed so I am limited on FSB and only up to 12.5x...so the MB is holding it back...will run into the same thing with the Asus but will at least be able to get up to around 195FSB instead of 179 max on the 8KHA+...and if this CPU does better on the NF2 board...as in voltage (8KHA+ has a serious undervolt problem at times)...the Asus board should also max out before the CPU does...always a good sign...
