Hi Guys,

I'm new here so I have a few noob questions. I don't really think I have the time to build a Phase change unit for cooling down my cpu so I would like to know whats the best one around that works.

My cpu is a FX-60 and my motherboard is a Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe.

I'm in the UK I have seen their is a mix of users here so I feel it's the right place to ask.

Thanks for your time

welcome :)

well if you need a quiet and good solution you should think of a single stage using a nl11f compressor. look what little devil builds most, there you see many pics of his great units. if you want really a fat unit you need a cascade or even 3 stages but thats a really loud solution an the power consuption is enormous

If you want off the shelf phase, then it's one of two options. Either a Mach2 or a Vapo Lightspeed. Both are about £500 in the UK. Another option is to have a UK based builder put one together for you. Getting someone to build you one will be cheaper and the finished unit will be a lot better than an off the shelf purchase. Off course, secondhand is something to look at as well. I got mine secondhand for under £200 and then had a builder do some mods on it for me, best of both worlds. If you want the name of a builder then PM me.

Best thing to do is look around and the builders will become aparant quite quickly. Just send a few a pm and they will give you quotes. They are all nice guys and are here to help :). Custom made units will perform much better and can be tuned for your FX-60 CPU whereas off the shelf units won't be unless you have them changed.

With phase change it's all about what you can afford really. This stuff is expensive (like everything else I suppose :p:), so make sure you know what you want before buying anything.

What do you mean what's the best. The best one is one that is made to do exactly what you want exactly how you want it and actually does it.

Or do you mean what is the best unit out of those that people sell here? Well most people here don't make a large number of same unit. They are ussualy custom made to the specific specifications of the customer. Give your specs and it will be done.

What you should be asking then is who does the best job, best build quality, fastest time, best price etc. Not something anyone can answer in a few words.

My advice is lurk around here and see what people make, how they handle their business, learn peoples reputation etc, then send them a PM or email, ask what you want (example: unit that will hold a 250w load at -40C) and they will tell you how much it will cost and how long it will take.

Hi guys,

Thanks you all for the feedback you have all given me a great deal of information to work on.

I've pm'ed a few people to get an idea of what's available they have been really helpful.

Thank you for your time.
