At 50°C it consumes 30.5 amps @ 17.8v giving a ferocious consumption of 542.9W (0.543Kw).
OMG
I'll stick to regular watercooling thank you ;)

Hmmm.. does the text under the name definitely means you got banned, or can somebody just put that text there just to be funny?

Dude, I am so getting this. Screw the 437W TEC; hell, that thing costs about $50 and that's without shipping. I'll guess $55. This thing is just under $22 shipped. I'm going for it.

NOL, you better bust out that bong.

I always wondered by TECs have those tiny little leads on them.. 16 guage wire? I'd prefer to have some 10 guage wire on them, 16 guage will get toasty and burn the insulation in no time at 30 amps. That is a monster though, hope you guys buy a few and blow up some powersupplies.

Btw unless you guys are forgetting, thats 543 power consumption. The 437 dominators were 600 power consumption ;)

Shoot then how much Q[Watts] is this thing?

EDIT.

Upon closer examination:

At 50°C it consumes 30.5 amps @ 17.8v giving a ferocious consumption of 542.9W (0.543Kw). At 25°C it gobbles up 30.5 amps @ 15.6v = 475.8w (0.476kw). It's pumping power or Qcmax is equally phenomenal @ 50°C being rated at an unbelievable 282w, equally as impressive @ 25°C it's Qcmax is 257w.:fact:

Come to think of it, this thing isn't very impressive at all =(

BS numbers I think, or just a badly made thermoelectric.

Yea at that electrical power, it should exceed at least the 320W TEC. Darn. Oh well.

Pics of said bong? Or is it the white PVC one that was shown in the shots of your basement? Either way, some pics and a general breakdown of the construction would be cool.

What were your refill rates? Ie. we talking 0.25 of a litre per hour or something more or less? Thanks.

Hey kids,

Sorry i forgot about this topic. So form comments i'm guessing it's crap, badly made and going to be a right :banana::banana::banana::banana: to cool the hot side!!

Still anyone going for it??

That was me going to make a new bong, used some 3 year old pvc sealent and that things trash.
As for my old one,
4" diameter, 44 ping pong balls, one shower head, and 66 inches tall.
Consumed about 1/4 gallon a day or so. I vented the humidty outwards.

Come to think of it, this thing isn't very impressive at all =(Does this mean that this TEC is actually less powerful than our favorite 437W TEC? Is this thread therefore insignificant? I know that someone on eBay sells a 62x62mm, 350W TEC. Maybe this is it?

Please forgive me if I have severely misinterpreted your post.

n00b 0f l337

Prtty impossible to estimate temps with a TEC.

bong coolers are the best way to deal with silly silly heat loads

pics of bongs are allways good :D

This thread is a good example of how TEC ratings are pretty much all BS and can be very easily manipulated by the manufacturers. I think often they are just plain lies on ebay.

The convention for PC TEC cooling is to use Qmax for TEC size rating. However this isnt an ideal measure as it creates allot of confusion with regard to what the TEC can actually do.
It would be much much better to have a rating of DT at 150watt load (40*c hot side temp)
But manufacturers on ebay often just provide the biggest numbers they can find, even if they are irrelavent/confusing.

peltier 1
Qmax = 437.2 Watts (heat transferring power, presumably at delta t= 0)

peltier 2
Qmax = 285 Watts
542 Watts power consumed

bummer

If it's 62*62mm, which block would you use to cool it? Last time I checked the company that made the 437w tec block went out of business and the cold copper plates are only for the 245w 50mm*50mm tec

There are a few guys here at XS who own them, some of which ordered them from WL some months ago. Also, the Dominator block is still on the market.
However, none of this matters as this TEC is actually very weak. It's not more powerful than the 437w one.

Just wondering, will they ever make a more powerful tec? And if they do, how big would it get to, for say, a 600w tec

A 437watt consumes 600. Its 62mm. Any bigger and we're into the 70mm range which is too big.
My bongs long dead. But I'm considering picking up some acrylic tube ;)
