This quad isnt the best on water, but It should be very nice under DI.

I have a problem though.. This rig pulls 733+ watts duruing GT1 in 3d03 measured with a Kill-A-Watt :(

My 700W Forton Hates me now. Heck, its using 456 watts idling right now!

What's the temp on that quad priming all 4 cores at 3.9GHz? I can't imagine water would be sufficient for that.

Because we all know you need a 1kw PSU to run GTX SLI and quadcore (kingpin lives in a dream world) and that being able to own 2 GTXs and a QX6700 means you have unlimited funding :rolleyes:

This probably stating the obvious but if you run wPrime in "realtime" priority it helps with times a bit :)


I hope overclocking the quad core with 680i goes well for you :toast: .
I couldn't get anything over 16x multi to work and it would often disable core#2 and core#3 by itself :(. Probably user error though :confused2

AFIK even alot of Legends actually use 850W PSUs to bench with on QX6700s/8800GTX SLI. I was also dead serious.

Besides, the 700W forton is running it fine for now. I have had over 5 motherboards this month (RD600,QuadGT,EVGA680i,Commando,AW9D Max) so I think I am going to save a few dollars and possibly wait for getting something more expensive.

How many 1KW PSUs did fugger have die on him?

Just look here, do a quick search of the power supply forum, find threads like this one:

Even moderators were debating that this PSU would even RUN that platform, and I can say that the PSU runs 1.4v Kentsfield + 8800GTX SLI FINE! Now, on Dice or more overclocked, it is all up in the air :) I bought this PSU "back in the day" so I could run X1950XTX Xfire, so It is recent that I had the money to buy my current rig, but do not hate on the 'ole Forton, because it still works like a charm. As a matter of fact, counting the TWO 1KW PC Power and Cooling supplies that FUGGER KILLED, I think that this LONE 700W FSU is not doing badly.

Everyone that owns a Forton 700w or an OCZ 700W GameXtreme can sleep well knowing the abuse that it can take out. This is XtremeSystems We push the Envelope, go back to [N]ubForums.


Back in December of 2006, I contacted Alonso of CellShock for a review sample of their flagship product, the PC2-8000C4 2GB Kit. It took me until late in January to obtain my sample as they only had a limited number of samples they could give out, and I had missed the mark for the previous month. Lucky for me, once January came around I had already put my name in the queue and I was good to go. Regarding the sample I had received, I've been assured by Alex (Alonso) that my review set is a 100% retail representative sample.
To be quite frank, I do not appreciate the attitude that any of the haters have had here recently.
IF YOU WANT 8800GTX SLI + QX6700 + 1TB PLUS + WATER + PHASE, TRY GETTING A FFING JOB LIKE ME. I, and ONLY I, made the money to buy what I own, and I am a poor college student(who also owns a BMW M3, paid for by myself), so that means you can also.

Why Do I not own a 1KW PSU? I am spending 600$+ at the BMW stealership this week to get some things fixed on the M3, thats why.

I FIND IT SAD THAT PEOPLE WHO GET REVIEW SAMPLES ARE 'HATING ON MY 8800GTX SLI + QX6700

I could get "A REVIEW SAMPLE" PSU most easily, as I have an oscilloscope sitting right in my School for me to use...
Is that how I roll? No.
