Yay I'm finally getting one :)

1st thing I'm going to do when this baby comes if fill her up with R404a

Only question now is should I sell my current AMD setup and get an Intel setup?

I can get 2700Mhz with my current 1700+ but run it at 2630mhz 24/7 because more stable and requires only 1.85-1.90V

If I sell it I will only be able to afford an IC7 and a 2.4C

Which setup would be faster? (I'm a hardcore FPS gamer)

I'd say the intel setup would yield more 3dmarks and having a huge fsb/memory bandwidth is also nice...

Congrats on the purchase though, welcome to the club :D

Games wise your AMD rig would be practicially as good as Intel, there wont be a huge difference. (3dmark intel will probably win if you get a good clocker)

Id get the prommy, play with AMD then if you get bored buy Intel.

the Prometeia is a more permanant investment, hence a smarter one, cause the motherboard and CPU will be out of date in 2 months, but the the prometeia will be good for much longer.

Nice, it should do you very well :D I'm hoping to get one by next school year.

Intel 2.4C and Abit IC7 isnt a bad choice, the scores in my sig are done by the stock coolers

too rich for my blood. I will have to stay with my junky maze3 for now. I want to set up a pelt system, but even that is too expensive. :(

Don't sell the mobo/cpu! Use it as a dedicated folding box! :)

I would say stick with the AMD for a while, try it out first.... you should be able to yield at least 100MHz more from that CPU, why not more... and 2.9GHz AMD ain't easy to beat... the Intel option won't go away, so you can easily sell your stuff and get one.... after a month they'll be even cheaper ;)

I have to ask, how practical are prommies for 2/47 use? I'd love to have one, but they seem more like an exotic car: expensive, fun, fast, and a §§§§§ to maintain.

My Prommie has been running 24/7 since I got it. I pre-ordered the original one from XTW. I had a slight condensation problem that was easy to fix with some wrap insulation...other than that...zero problems to date. :D
