looking for a 2.8c I was just wondering how much difference the packdate is going to make. I have seen a malay 10th apr packdate but didnt bother with it since I knwo macci's had one of 9th may.
is it likely to make much difference if i get a May chip rather than april?

mine's from May 2
but since packdate is not necessarily connected to production date, its just a shot in the dark... dont pay too much attention to it. At any given "packdate" there will be dozens of batches and different production dates packed, and there will always be significant differences between them...
doesnt seem to be any way to tell by the stepping on these chips either, seems total pot luck then. just trying to maximise my chances of getting a good once since i will only be buying one (not 6 like i did with xp1700's). Ill see if i can get a costa rica, if not then a malay, i guess thats about all i can do.

Mine is a 4/4 and I bought it on the 18/5 so I have one of the older ones it looks like.....older, or first batches, how ever you wish to look at it :)
Its also a Malay. A friend has a Malay 2.6 and if its ยงยงยงยง he is gonna try the Costa Rica 2.6C he has at work :)
tell him to try both i wanna see if the costa rica is better :p
I have a Costa Rica 2.6C right here in front of me, and my (hopefully non-DOA this time) 4PCA3+ will be here any minute! :D I'll post if it's any good hehe! :p

GOD is the other one with the Costa chip, he says he might try it tonight, but definantly tomorrow.....he can get his current 2.6C to 294fsb but he wants 300 :rolleyes: :D:D

Well my 4PCA3+ isn't DOA, but the secondary IDE port is dead... Great, another RMA! :rolleyes: At least Coney's close to me and has champion service! :D
At (a pathetic) 1.52 V (1.60 V max set in the BIOS :mad: ) my Costa Rica 2.6 C is doing 3415 MHz at the moment with the stock cooler, has completed about 15 mins of Super Pi 32M. :) Prime fails at this speed, but I'm not sure whether it counts for P4s, does it still have problems? Prime passes ok at 33XX anyway. :)
Not a bad start! I need to start making this Vapo kit! :D :toast:

is that the chip itelf or the packdate?
i was looking at a couple of 10/04/2003 packdates yesterday but decided they were too old and managed to order a 13/05.
