A few weeks ago, I bought myself a Gainward GF4 Ti4400 GS.
The card worked fine for a few days...and then it happened.
I was playing GTA3 for about half an hour, and suddenly my computer reboots...I thought: "Hey, no problem...things can happen" After the reboot I continiuoud playing the game...and after 5 mins. another reboot...
I placed a temp probe at the back of the card...59°C!!
And now, while I'm surfing, temp says 54°!!
This isn't normal I guess...
I went back to the store, they ran a few tests with it...and no problem at all...weird isn't it???
The guy told me to make sure to start with a clean install, it could be a conflict between the drivers...
Back home I did a clean install, and hey, the temp was back normal.../me happy...NOT
The next day it started normal, but after a while the temp rises again to +50°c idle...and the card isn't overclocked...:(

My mobo is an Abit TH7 II, P4a 2.0 proc, setup is watercooled...GF4 wb is on it's way...for now it's on stock aircooling, with an 80mm fan blowing straight at the card.

Is there anybody who's had this problem too, or anyone who knows what could be the problem???

If it's rebooting it could be that the GF4 is pulling too much juice of yer 5v rail... this normally causes spurious reboots... It doesn't sound too warm, GF4's run hot as hell at the best of times anyways, and are the current cause of consumer-related probs at the shop at the mo, with them causing customers' case temps to soar, thus affecting cpu temps in the same direction... (they never read into things properly before they buy, do they!!?? Highstreet customers, I mean!)

If you have an enermax PSU, there is a mod that can be done to raise the 5v rail HERE (http://www.over-clock.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?s=3d19fefc4e61ffff;act=ST;f=20;t=5)

Failing that, strap an 80mm YSTech or similar to the back of the card and see if that helps...

Right now I have a Chieftec 340W PSU, the 5V rail is at 5,03V.
Is this good, or could it be better???

The trick with the fan I'm gonna try as soon as possible...;)

I hope things get better with the DD waterblock on it :)

hmmmmm 5v rail is fine at that... most gf4 owners see it drop quite steeply after installation, but you do have a good psu there, so that's that eliminated... er... we're on Intel here so new ground for me... strict AMD loyalist, so have no knowledge of Intel board bios etc!

Any P4 users out there... wanna lend a hand? I'm gonna have to pass...

I was wondering...could it be the 12V rail???

I think it's kinda low...stressed it drops to 11,70V...idle I got 11,86V
