After seeing P4C's tear everything a new ***hole I figured I should get one myself. Its hard being an AMD guy when you see a 6k sandra bench. :(

That said, what is the best setup as of now?

I'm trying to decide between a 2.8C or 2.6C because I wont have the cooling for 4GHz and would still like a very nice FSB. I don't have faith in getting a 2.4C that will hit 3600 MHz, as my Barton pretty much cans any 3500 MHz P4 CPU wise.

I also have no idea which mobo to get. Are springdales competitive with Canterwoods? Is the IC7 being left behind by the Asus boards?

Two more questions:

Whats the best aircooler for a P4?

and

My XMS3502 1.1 can hit 230 DC @ 5-2-2-2.0 with 3v actual on my NF7-S. What would be the general translation to FSB on an Intel board? I have faith the memory can go further but the NF7 wont push higher.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey Hollowed going to make the switch to the dark side ! hehe

I haven't regreted it!:)

I think the Asus is King of the Hill right now, my second choice would be the Abit.

I'm able to run my XMS3500c2 at 240mhz with the Asus P4C800 @ 3.1v after vmod, so I would say that you would have no problem with 230+

I think the sweet spot is the 2.8c it would give you a good OC with 5:4 div and still be able to run good timing on the ram.

I don't know what everyone is using for hs, the retail P4c comes with a decent one so you might want to just try it out for a challenge.

Good luck ! keep us informed and may the force be with you (or is that the other side ?) lol

the zalman cnps7000 is pretty nice too.
92mm 21dB fan.
but the best one is probably Thermalright 900U

Hey Major, which way are you leaning today in the P4P vs. P4C quest? Just ordered a P4C. Should be here late tomorrow.

Does the SLK800 fit on inel chips?.huuummmm quess not, looks like the slk900 is for intel.

I think the decision is really budget, if it means you can get a 2.8 with the p4p then that would be better (in my book) than a p4c with the 2.4 or 2.6, if budget isn't an issue the P4c and 2.8 would be very cool !

But the CW in the end will prevail with an advantage over the SD

Its constraints are merely what I can sell my NF7-S + 2500 + Thermalright AX7 for. First purchase is either a 5900Ultra or 9800Pro.
