I'd like some input on what you guys think is the best Canterwood and Springdale motherboards right now. I'm probably gonna get a Canterwood but I'd like to get some input and then read some reviews :)
Thanks for the help!

OPP seems to have the best with MSI.... I would agree with him.

All three of the leading contenders, the IC7, NEO, and the P4C800 have their advantages and disadvantages.
The highest fsb OC seem to be coming from the Asus and Abit.
The MSI has outragous voltages on it, some are riducuosly high.
I think the IC7 is the all around best, it needs alittle more juice in the vmem department but most people seem to be running with the 5:4 divider and are not needing the high vmem.
Opp has had the MSI NEO, P4P800 and now has the P4C800.
He liked the P4P800 alot, but I haven't seen any post with the P4C800 yet.
If your going to be running a promie with it, you might want to look into the orientation of the mounting holes. Some are rotated 90* and may cause problems, I don't have a promie so I cant tell you which ones do.
BTW welcome the the Xtreme forums oplix !!! glad to see you here ;)

thanks man...
What I really want to do is run 250fsb Sync with some OCZ 3700. Which motherboard do you guys think this would be most likely achievable with.
Also on the side note...is the heatsink/fan that comes with the P4 in the box any good? Cause I don't know if its worth spending a extra $55 for a Swiftech MCX4000 + Smart fan II if I can get close to the same results with the stock fan...it would kinda seem more effeciant to me too seeing as how I wouldn't know what to do with the stock fan :) And if anyone has a camera could they post a pic or two of the stock heatsink? Just wondering what it looks like asthetic wise

I think the stock HS that ships with the P4c is a pretty decent hs, I've seen alot of people using and acheiveing good results.
Thats what I had in mind too 250 sync., but the gain on the CW is very small running sync as apposed to runnign 5:4 div.
I did a volt mod to my P4C800 today and hit a wall at 238 or so with the NB trying to run 1:1 (I'm assuming the NB)
I don't know which board is doing well with high fsb 1:1, I've seen alot of 300mhz fsb with the Asus but all were with dividers used.
here is some really informative reading, its a must before you buy anything !!!! Zroc did an excellent and time consuming job putting this together........so read it, its an order ! hehe

alright, thanks friend. I'll take a look at that :)
PS..what do you think would give me the best performance..maxing out on a 5:4 divider or maxing in Sync? This is with OCZ EL PC-3700.
oh and I def. can't afford a prommie heh

I could only do around 235 1:1 on MSI, I'm getting about the same on both Asus mobos but I still have do Voltage mod for the memory on the Asus. I'm expecting I can go higher on the P4C once I do the mod. The stock amount of mem voltage is 2.85 so I'll see today or tomorrow. I'm also getting some OCZ 3700 soon and we'll see how that does.

the best performance would definitely be maxing out using the 5:4 divider, you'll have more mhz and higher memory bandwidth even tho your memory speed will be slower (my mem bandwidth is 5950+mb/s with ddr445 (5:4) while at ddr500 (1:1) it's only around 5800mb/s)

I'd have to agree, I'd forget the 1:1 and go as far as possable with the FSB and 5:4 Ratio.

ok thanks very much guys.
Then another question comes to mind. If I decide to max the 5:4 divider using a MCX4000 + Smart Fan II (75CFMs) will getting the extra pc-3700 ram yield any significant increases in FSB or should I just get pc-3500 and save some money? That is if the Core speed itself would be limited due to the processor and the locked multiplier. So basically if say the multiplier is 13(locked) and the max FSB would be like 275-285 due to the fact the processor can't handle anything higher due to air cooling. (I will use a 2.4C)

Your memory will be in the 220-230 range, you'll still need good stuff, I've tested, besides my Kingston 3500, 3 other memories and they had problems with 220 on up, they worked totally different then they did with an AMD nForce, with the Intel they sucked, so good mem will still be good to have.

crap..I'm kinda (almost) maxed out on my $1500 budget. Hopefully the OCZ Dual Golden will come out sometime before 2 weeks from now.
By the way...anyone know what the most friendly brand IC7 ram is?
OCZ, Geil, Kingston, Mushkin, etc.
