I get really bad lag in almost every game I play, but I haven't been able to find the cause. Say in a driving game I'd be going along fine at 100fps + and then suddenly the game just pauses or "skips" momentarily (It's not reflected in the frame rate either.) I tried almost everything i can think of but nothing helps, any ideas here?

My first suggestion if you haven't already tried it is to put everything to stock. Have you tried reinstalling drivers as well?

edit

Why don't you tell us what you already have done.

Ok, list of things I've tried:
- Two different OSs (vista on a single 250gb, xp on 3 250s)

- 8800GTX (Wasn't really trying for this at the time but I noticed it did the same thing)

- Running Stock :stick:

- Re-installing Drivers and using driver cleaner and reg edit

- Checked stability (cpu is min. 8hrs orthos stable, gpu is at stock and stable for at least 20 mins ati tool)

- Latest direct X

- Removing soundcard and drivers

I have a big list of things I thing it could be tho; PSU possibly not doing so well, soundcard, monitor (dell 24"), keyboard (G15), life hates me....:p:

ALL of my games:(

missed that part, try changing a few ram settings, and stress the computer for longer periods of time.

how are the case temps?

the case temp will get higher much faster playing a game than running any kind of test, since usually the CPU and GPU are both at 100%. my computer seems to have all kinds of problems around 31C or so, which is why im loving the partial winter down here right now

Sounds like a hardware/driver issue.

Instead of uninstalling and installing things just disable them in Device manager. Try sound card first, which I see you did. Go down the line of other card/devices you have installed. Just be careful not to disable vital system devices.

Also disable temp polling in atitool...

Does this happen online or in single player? Do you have a router or firewall on? Your router or firewall could be preventing the game from running properly also when you run the game hit ALT+TAB open the task manager and check the process running maybe you have something eating your cpu. Also try to under-clock that cpu a bit, maybe it's overheating or it's a stability issue

you using some sort of fan controller/temp monitor on the graphics card, try disabling this and see if you still get the lag. ATItool of some version had this effect on me, pissed me right off until I figured it out...

man if you did all those things there is no way you didnt fix the lag. wipe everything and format is the only thing left to do

Plywood, I'm not "using" ati tool per se, but I will try disabling it's services anyway. ex2cib, my system is 8 HRs Orthos blend stable at 3.6 (401x9) 1.475v, watercooled so temps in coretemp never over 45Cish. GPU is rarely over 35c when gaming for hours. I've tried changing ram settings from 3-3-3-8 all the way to 5-5-5-18 but it could be an SPD issue? KALISPIMENTA, this is all with single player games. Aintz, I have tried re-installing XP twice, and I have vista doing the same thing too so I don't know??

My friend has some conspiracy theories though and I think the stuff might be behind it... Apparently people have lag when using G15 keyboard? Apparently Dell 24" WFPs have a lagging problem? (this could be very hard for me to verify as I don't have another system in the house that can push 1920x1200.)

wait your saying your 1900xtx never goes over 35c when gaming? that can't be right. they are one of the hottest out there like 85c on stock cooling are you running a super water loop or something?

MCW60, MCP655, 220mm rad. Max temp I have seen in ati tool under full artifact scan etc. was 40c at 765 core, 1.575v
