For this specific chip

Any ideas what I can get with this on air? Is it worth while, as my duo is running strong at 3.6.
What do these things rank in vista?
I have a asus p5w asus that is serving me well, but If I wanted this chip and SLI...... would I benefit from a new mobo, or just using hacked drivers?
thx in advance!!

I had a P5B Deluxe and Q6600 ES and it was never pushed hard but at I think it was 1.45v and 3.4ghz that it ran at usually.

results in sig.
It takes 1.5V, but it is damn stable. I dare not push it more though, as load temps get to be high 50s. Gonna go with water again more than likely...

wow, quads that high on air? I thought they would RUN far 2 hot....
thx, maybe I will make the jump. I would be happy with 3.4.... If I got it, lol.

Q6600ES B3 @ 3.4ghz 1.38v fully stable on XBX2
3.6ghz with 965 and better (noisy) cooling
I believe most quad will achieve 3.4ghz+

It is suprising how consistant the quads seem to be. I guess it speaks to the efficiency of the intel fabs being able to produce high quality yields.

Interesting. Is that on air and what Prime95 Small FFT max temps would you expect?

Are you talking E6600 or Q6600 here?

We're talkin' Q6600 but from his sig it looks as though he's talkin' E6600. States "conroe" not kentsfield.

wow, nice... and its stable at those temps? My core craps out after 65!

Is that too hard on the proc? Seems like it could definitely shorten the lifespan. Isn't that pretty well outside the rec spec?

That would be under orthos, not idle or using typical apps. Also, the listed spec is higher than for conroe.

What's the listed spec?

I believe Kentsfield thermal spec is officially 65C but I could be mistaken.
