Contrast is quite important...
Personally, I look at the response time, what awards the monitor has, if it has hardware calibration (for editing photos a must)... dunno how much those monitors are, but I'd go for a NEC Spectraview 2190

The monitor has hardware calibration, each model is tested so that it reproduces colours as they really are... but I guess thats only good for those who do Photoshop... It has unique LED backlighting (I mean like NO backlight leakage), and the colours are just excellent...
You mean the SpectraView Reference 21? If you can get it, go for it!
But its most important to ask what you want the monitor for...
Wowh thanks, but whats better on the reference model compared to the normal one?
it willl be used fore games and later on proberly game design

I'd say go to a store and see what you like... you prolly don't need a Spectraview then...
I'd look at the normal manufacturers... go for something Eizo or Nec maybe... but the other, less known manufacturers have improved too... so best to look and see...

but sins there is no other monitor that even compares to it i'm better off with this anyway right? even fore gaming?

the view angel not less than 160
the response time < lower is better
Contrast is quite important ,

The clarity is the most important thing. I suggest looking at whatever monitor you are considering in person before purchasing.
Buying strictly from specs is a good way to get a cheap blurry monitor with great specs. ;)
so then i need to buy a really expensive one lol.

I went over to CompUSA and Best Buy and looked them over in person before ordering my monitor from Newegg. ;)
Thanks but i'm just getting a nec ore eizo from newegg. maybe the €6.000 one i'm not sure

It's important to know which tft panel the display has. There is different panels on the market like TN, MVA, PVA, IPS and S-IPS. TN is the cheapo one and I would stay away from displays using it. Displays with MVA and PVA panels are generally quite much better in terms of reproducing colors and contrast. The best one's are displays with IPS and S-IPS. They have the best color reproduciation and contrast and they and the newer ones are good for gaming too. Good models are:
Viewsonic VP930 (19", MVA)
Nec MultiSync 20WGX2 (20" wide, S-IPS)
Benq FP241WZ (24" wide, S-IPS)

I second that ;)
I would also like to add that very often specs don't mean a thing. Manufacturers often have different standards for different specs (like manufacturers of computer fans have different dB ratings). Just stay away from TN panels unless you use the screen for gaming only. TN panels still have slightly better response times.
Often if the specs mention a very high contrast number, then the manufacturer means dynamic contrast. Reading reviews and just looking at the display yourself is the only thing that helps to choose the right display ;)
