Hey everyone, haven't been online in a while because I left for the Navy. Well, today I got back and I bought 2 laptops, HP dv9220us models, completely identical. I have a comcast connection to my main and to my secondary I had it setup through the onboard wireless in an adhoc network config. I reset my main while my wife was on the secondary and now I have tried everything that I know to get it back together but they just won't sync up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

secondary I can't get to post because I cant get any net. I have tried resetting everything, even reinstalling the drivers for them. They say they connect but I have tried connecting the LAN to both of them and one or the other will be 2.0 Mb and the other 54 Mb while they say they connect but for like 20 minutes it will just say it is trying to connect in the Network and sharing center whatever one I am trying to get to connect to the other with ICS just pulls a 169

You'll need to configure a local DHCP server running on a separate adress or set up static IP's for your wireless on both machines (use static if you don't have a wireless router) or get a wireless router, they are very cheap and work very well.

To elaborate on it, both machines are looking for a DHCP response on the wireless and neither of them are getting one because they have no one to ask but eachother and neither of them are configured as a router.

192.168.0.1 for the one connected one and 192.168.0.2 for the secondary (gateway for the first would be your connected IP to comecast and for the second it would be 192.168.0.1, DNS servers set to auto or the IP's from comcast), or use the ICS guide to set up the connected computer as a router, it's fairly simple and once it's done it will be running dhcp via the wireless (the adress for the gateway on the second machine will still be 192.168.0.1) so the second one should be able to connect.
