Ok guys, I didn't want to make another redundant "what to buy" thread but here goes... I'm looking to build a Core 2 Duo system and after much (much) deliberation here's what I've come up with:

CPU: E6400
Mobo: Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus
RAM: Crucial Ballistix PC-5300 2GB (Does this kit have D9GMH IC's?)
PSU: Corsair 520W
GFX: Palit 7600GT
Case: CM Stacker 830 (I don't think you could ever talk me outta this, I LOVE IT but damn it's pricey)
HDD's: 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB RAID-0;)
Monitor: 20" LG 1680x1050 (looks good and pretty cheap too)
DVD Drive: good cheap SATA drive??

I'll be using this system for overclocking and basically everything but NOT gaming. I'm not too sure about the GFX card I just want to be able to get a nice 3D acclerated desktop a la beryl/aero. BTW It'll be running XP/Linux at the moment and most likely Vista in the future too. Any opinions or recommendations much appreciated guys.

Well if you not interested in gaming I suggest to change the mobo for Asus P5B-Dlx. Also I`d suggest to pick some other brand for VGA. And get yourself 320GB HDDs - they only $20 more for both @Egg. Otherwise rig looks good :)

Ok I'll think about the P5B Deluxe but apparently P965 has some issues with linux , and theres something I like about the P5N32-E Plus It's only got praise really in the thread here about it. 680i is only going to improve with new drivers/bios but the 965/975X chipsets are at the end of thier lifespan. I'll prob throw in 2 320GB drives now that you mention it. I'll be buying this in the UK probbably overclockers.co.uk and scan.co.uk. And anything wrong with palit?, it's the cheapest 7600GT so I just went with that.

Palit is one of the cheapest VGA manufacturers, use non-reference design and not that good components for production. But since you not a gamer and probably won`t OC vga Palit should be good too :)
Still don`t think that mobo is great choice - it`s pretty expensive and all of it`s features are available in 650i chipset based mobos like MSI P6N Platinum, Asus P5N-E or Abit FP-IN9. Only Asus been on the market for some time now so you can check the reviews - here`s thread about it (http://xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=126791)

I'll think about the P5N-E i'ts always good to save a little cash. I might bump up the graphics card, what 7XXX card would handle some moderate gaming WoW mainly?

RAM: Crucial Ballistix PC-5300 2GB (Does this kit have D9GMH IC's?) Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146567) Yes looks like these are Micron D9GMH. Listed here http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/ under Crucial PC5300 Ballistix 3.0-3-3-12 @ 2.2V

Anyone have a Asus P5N32-E Sli Plus, and if so what do you think of it? What kind of clocks are you getting? Thanks again guys.

Ok, I think I'm going to get a bad axe 2 instead of either of the asus boards and an XFX 7900GS for the graphics. Anything else to say anyone, I just want to be 110% sure before dropping the cash.
