Hey guys new here, Well I need a laptop for College, I wanted it fast yet mobile, and after looking through almost every company I found one that seems to be good. Well I need some advice on whether or not this is a good system, keep in mind that it WON'T be used for hardcore gaming, but for normal everyday use with the occasional round of BF2. I am wondering about quality really, I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes around to computers so I know what I am getting.

Here are the specs of what I would like.

Model: Xplorer X5-6800 Notebook

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7200 Dual-Core Processor @ 2.00GHz 667FSB 4MB L2 Cache EM64T

Motherboard: Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset w/ Centrino Technology

RAM: 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 DDR2-667 SODIMM Memory

Video Card: Built-in Mobility™ Radeon® X1600 256MB PCI-Express X16 Video

HD: 120GB 5400RPM SATA150 HARD DRIVE

Wireless: Intel Pro/Wireless 3945A/B/G 802.11a/b/g 54Mbps MiniPCI Card

OS: None, I know how to reformat a computer and I have an extra XP PRO SP2 disk :woot:

Grand total with shipping $1349.00

I think its a bargain, but I am concerned about quality, ie how its put together, I have heard mixed reviews but only about there Desktops, not their laptops so if any one of you have insight it is greatly appreciated.

If this is in the wrong forum please post a link or tell me where to place it and I will gladly post it there Thank You.

I liked their desktops, not too bad for the price. Cable management is 8/10 too.

I'd say it's pretty good.

damn, nice price if theyre of good quality. The only experience ive had with many laptops was when i worked at circuit city. Toshiba always seem to be the better quality compared to Hp/compaq, gateway, Sony Vaio, etc.

Yeah sorry forgot to put that in there, its 15.4in and the max resolution is 1280x800 not the best, but better than my current monitor, If and when I get mine I would be glad to post a review for it.

I'd say that's about right. We got a Dell with the same processor, and 15.4" screen, only differences being:

X1400 instead of X1600 (was the highest offered)
1gb DDR2 instead of 2gb
60gb HD instead of 120gb

It was about $900 in October with a free Vista upgrade coupon.

Was it the XPS model? I thought about getting a lower gig HD, but I figure, I have so much music and so much word crap that I probably wont throw/delete anything so so if I need it for a later class it will work out (I do have an External HD though so if I need to Re-format its all good), as of right now this laptop makes my brothers computer (Sony Vaio with upgraded video card) its slave lol. It plays BF2 by the way so I should have no trouble with that on this model. Keep the inputs coming guys.

Thanks

I suggest amd's Turion cpu, has amazing battery life...perfect for playing flash games, i mean taking notes during class

LOL well with that configuration it only allows for Intel's chips so I had no choice and performance wise I have read that Intel's Core 2 Duo 2.00Ghz is much better than AMD's equivalent. As far as battery life I am getting (2) 4800Mah batteries, one comes with it and they throw in a second for free, so I figure just swap them out when each is depleted. I do thank you for your input though. :)
