Hi guys!

I'm aware that this combination should work... however I can't seem to get this Mobile P4 1.8 to boot in my EPoX 4PCA3+ (875PE). :( I have tried connecting BSEL0 to VCC to make it into a 533 MHz chip, but alas this doesn't boot either, fans just turn over briefly... :(

Has anyone (or anyone you know) tried a 400 MHz chip in a Canterwood board and got it to work? This combo should kick ass! :D TIA! :toast:

Hmm, maybe the CPU ID is not defined in BIOS and the board doesn't POST.
I've seen a P4 2.4A(400MHz FSB) working on 4PCA3+, but it was not a mobile CPU and it had 1.50V VCore default.

certain memory won't boot at all

what you got?

ps. how do you make it into a 533/800 chip? by jumpers?

I was thinking that might be the case, however it would seem a little weird if these mobile chips work on E7205 boards but not 875s, I know Bigtoe has had a mobile P4 going nicely on the P4G8X...

Shane: I will troubleshoot more today, but so far I haven't been able to get the bugger to boot. I suspect either the board is DOA or it doesn't recognise the chip.

To make a 400 MHz CPU into a 533 MHz, I'm pretty sure you join pin BSEL0 to the nearest VCC, i.e. join pins AD6 and AD7. To make a 533 MHz chip into a 400 MHz chip, join Pins AD5 and AD6, as described here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5248). :)

Will do. :) I purchased the P4-M off a bloke on OCAU (my 'home'). :)
