I have recently bought some new parts and its not functioning properly.
parts used:
Asus Commando
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (L640A656)
Corair Dominator 8500C5 (With fan)
XFX 8800GTX
Thermaltake purepower 520W
Maxtor 300Gb sata

OS: Windows Xp, Windows Vista
All settings default

first issue: when gaming or 3D Mark pc just stops no bsod's or warnings just like someone pulls the plug. Sometimes this happens very short after lunching 3d mark or battle field sometimes it's going strong for a half our.

second issue: I tested all sorts of setting in the bios an when it's not stopping instantly i get really really low frames in 3D mark

When playing BF2 my pc consumes 340W measured with a watt meter.

I don't have any id what could be the problem. I am thinking now to smash it into pieces and send it RMA

Simple.. You bought a bad PSU for a fantastic rig... My best bet is that it's the one crapping out... The fact that you say the thing slows down very much, or restarts entirely, is further proof.. What's your CPU-temp?? that might be the second explaination...

Have you setup your RAM manually or auto?? Have you been in the BIOS at all?? :)
IF you haven't It's your PSU...

I'd tend to agree. That PSU doesn't match the rest of your system. The vid card alone will pill 240w. You might want to return that psu or exchange it for a decent quad rail cpu.

As said, PSU is trash.

I have used default settings in the bios and the rated setting of the memory.

If 520W can't pull this rig what PSU is recommend then? How much watts do I need when i am overclocking this system???

It's not the watts that they are saying the brand is no that great if you get an brand like ocz, tagan etc. 520 would be enough.

I know that.
But i have thermaltake 520w PSU. I din't know that they cant even feed this system.

If it were me I'd look at maybe an OCZ 700 or maybe a PCP&C 750w. 520w is probably enough to cover your needs from a wattage standpoint but its really the rails you want to look. You want a psu that can deliver clean power. Thermaltake isn't renown for there psu's.

Also you have to be realistic. If your case has 8 fans, 2 optical, 1 floppy, 4 HD's then your going to need a little power to supply all that and whatever other peripherals you have attached such as USB devices. Your needs might be less but its nice to have the expandability there. It would suck to upgrade some parts and have to buy yet another psu since your present one can't handle the load. My old pc has an Enermax 460w and when I'm playing a game while running my TV tuner along with having other apps open sometimes my system just can't handle the load. And I'm 99.9% sure its due to my psu not being able to supply enough power.

The 850w psu in my sig is way overkill for my needs. I had bought an OCZ 700w from Newegg but it arrived DOA and by the time they RMA'd me they were out of 700's. And they were out of the PCP&C I wanted as a second choice. From the sounds of it PCP&C has really good customer support. You might want to look into one of there psu's.
