He tells me that he does heavy multitasking in the sense that he wants to be able to burn 2 dvds and play games at the same time lol and i said to him well how much do you want to spend, and he tells me 600 dollars, is it even possible to build a computer that can do that for that much, and if i was gona build one to do that, regardless of price, what kinda components would be nessecary.

For $600, no not really. Tell him if he wants to do all that he's gotta add up more $$$ than that ;)

Hmmm... $600 and wants to do dual DVD burning *while* gaming huh? Well, as I see it, he can either try gaming at 800x600 or eventually learn that it just isn't possible on the budget. So what I would suggest is that you go for the most upgradeable system you can (ie. no integrated graphics unless there's also a PCI-E x16 slot available on the mobo) and explain to him that you've made him a basic system, but if he finds that gaming isn't up to his standards he'll have to buy a new video card as time goes on, or if DVD encoding is taking too long a new processor, etc. I know I hate being in that kind of spot, so I'll say good luck to you.
