So basically ever since I got IE7 whenever I open it it immediately closes itself with no error message. It's interesting to note that in programs that have it embedded (such as the css MOTD) it works fine.... Any idea how I can find out what's causing this crasH?

No :banana::banana::banana:in :banana::banana::banana: I use firefox... How else would I be posting here? However some stuff requires active X and the plugin for firefox can't do that.... I still NEED IE occasionally, which is why this irks me....

Now, how do I access this event log thing you are talking about?

Use Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), disable all ActiveX from Internet Tools > Manage Add-ons, and then open regular IE to see if it will stop closing it automatically.

If it still doesn't work, go to http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/

We understand your frustration but there is no need for the language so please keep it clean. Thanks!

Unfourtantly, my techs here at work have had tons of problems with IE7 crashing. The only real fix is to un-install IE7 and go back to IE6.

Wow I have not had a problem with IE7 yet. Might be a bad install.

Now that I think about it, i remember one specific incident. Kodak Easy Share and IE7, if you have an older version of the Kodak software it would cause IE7 to crash randomly.

Same here. It runs wonderfully.

I think if you have too many ActiveX add-ons, it would cause IE crashes. I checked my Manage Add-ons, there are only AIM, Sun Java Console, Web AV (Kaspersky), and Adobe PDF.

How can I do this if I can't even open it? What happens when I try to open it is the window half renders and then immediately disappears leaving no error or anything

You can't even open a browser from Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)? Not Internet Explorer. But like I said go to the MSDN forums.

nvm, internet explorer no addons crashes as soon as it opens too..... How do I go about reinstalling it? Do they make it hard since it's part of the OS?
