The current beta2 GPU client is due to expire in a few hours, on Feb 1st. The new beta3 is out now, GET IT HERE. (http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html)

You don't have to lose any of your work to upgrade to the new beta. Just download the client to the same folder your current GPU client is in and run the new beta3-console.exe (you can delete the old beta2-console.exe) and it will resume where the previous one left off.

Do you need a Dual core CPU to keep 2 - X1900's busy while folding?

Can 1 core keep the cards busy enough? Anybody tried it?

Thanks

I only have a single GPU so I don't know. However you could try and see I suppose and compare the speed of one client with 2 on the same CPU core.

quote from here (http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-ATI.html): "Client looks like it is using lots of CPU time: Graphics drivers must poll the GPU to see if it is done. This will look like a lot of CPU time being used, but nothing is really being done, so one can run other relatively CPU heavy code at the same time. However, we do not recommend running multiple FAH clients, as this can significantly slow down the GPU client. A good rule of thumb: leave at least 25% of the CPU time available for the GPU client".
So I guess one cpu is enough for two gpus... I remind you I do not have any gpus for folding (should have!).
And better have 512Mb versions of the cards ;)

Any idea about nVidia support in the near future? The G80 is a very powerful card, and I'd like to put mine to good use :)

sorry, no word yet that I'm aware of. With the current ATI GPU client still in beta, the SMP client in beta, and eventually the PS3 client (if sony allows it finally) has probably got them busy right now. But I would imagine it'll come in due time :)
