I was tearing down my PC today to get ready for all my W/Cing items coming in about 2 days. I removed my precious PCP&C 750 PSU from the case, and I heard a "Thunk" from inside the PSU, at this point im like WTF:eek: I unscrewed the 5 screws to remove the case from the PSU to see if it is something I can fix. After spending about 20 minutes I found a screw laying on the circuit board on the PSU that had a white plastic surround to it, so I spent sometime trying to find a similar screw that looks like it that is in place. I found it!!! There are 2 very LARGE heatsinks inside this PSU that screw to the MOSFETs, and there are 3 screws to each 1, WELL one of my heatsinks only had 2:eek: . Apparently, however assembled this PSU stripped the hell out of the threads so this was loose all the time. I called PCP&C before I performed this action to see if I opened the case that it would void my warranty and they said NO IT WON'T:D . I called back again, and spoke to their tech department and said that I found out where the screws goes, however it is totally stripped and will not go in. I asked if it is OK to keep using the PSU with it like this, and he said NO! He advised me to fill out there RMA form on there website, and to go from there. I did, and not even 2 hours later I get an email saying that within 1-3 days there will be a PSU at my door, they even paid for the return shipping:D I have to say the PCP&C has there sh*t together, and there service is ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH! This is the second time in a row there service is the best. I needed a 8 pin CPU 12V extension harness cause the length that comes on my PSU isnt long enough, and they sent me a 12 inch extension FOR FREE. This is why PCP&C has my business for life, Thanks PCP&C

I ordered a 750 quad 10 days ago and it was out of stock.
They finally sent it on 1/24 and Fedex left it @ my door and someone took the box. I am waiting for their response.

Wow that is amazing customer service. Pretty much old school that you just don't see nowadays. It kinda bums me out because I was looking at PCP&C's since my OCZ 700 arrived DOA and Newegg is all out of them at the moment so they just refunded my money. I ended up going with an OCZ 850 but now that I read your post it makes me wish I had tried PCP&C. Although I kind of remember Newegg being out of the 750w ones. Maybe thats why I didn't order one. Anyways good to hear things worked out so well.

Surprising really as most companies CS is to ignore the customer and hope they go away so well done PCP&C :) Oh and if a rep from PCP&C is reading this can I please have a free PSU for the blatant advertising above. :D

That's cool, most PSU mfr's don't let you open the unit (stupid "warranty void if removed" stickers), that's cool they let you pop it open to take a look.

no only would they let me open it, but they allowed me to actually remove everything from the PSU case (kinda like a PSU's motherboard) to see if I could get the screw back into the MOSFET, but that is when I found out that the screw is stripped. Good Company

Good CS seems to be rare these days but in the past both Antec and Lian Li have been very good to me in terms of not only answering questions quickly but then taking the extra steps to send out replacement parts free of charge.
if only they would sell PCP&C in europe

Update everyone! I received my new PSU today from PCP&C, and guess what they sent me this time. I was so happy to see they gave me a 750 "QUAD" SLi ready 750, where as my RMA 750 was just the 2x SLi model. Keep in mind here people they shipped me the PSU first as I still have my broken one, and they upgraded my model for free. I love PCP&C! And for the icing on the cake. Prior my BIOS 12v reading was 11.92v with the old PSU, now my new one reads 12.16 In the BIOS:D . Apparently this unit has more balls! Thanks everyone, good nite.

#1: do i need to change DDR2 675 to 800?
#2: do i really NEED a good branded PSU?
#3: any recommenndd parts?
#4: overall score of my system(what do u think)???
thanks....
My reply follows:

I Only have a definitive answer for question #2 that corresponds to #3. Yes you need a solid PSU. It's the most under rated piece of most systems. If the PSU goes bad it can make for a real bad day. I had a few mishaps followed by a lot of research I came to the conclusion it's one of the most vital parts of a solid system.
My one and only recommendation is PC Power & Cooling for several reasons.
1. It is the only PSU on the market that have a voltage variance of .1. All other companies work with a .5
2. DON'T BE MISLED BY EXAGGERATED WATTAGE CLAIMS
To properly compare power supplies, wattage claims must state the maximum ambient temperature for continuous, full-load operation. Unfortunately for the consumer, this information is usually withheld, opening the door for manufacturers to exaggerate their wattage claims. They do so by assuming an unrealistic ambient temp of only 25°C (77°F), even though the actual internal power supply temp is at least 40°C (104°F). Since the proper full-load rating is 15°C higher for home use and 25°C higher for industrial use, these power supplies produce 33%-50% less power than their advertised ratings. PC P&C is the only company that if at a minimum is a true spec PSU, if not under rated.
3. YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER PSU FOR A LONG TIME!!
I currently have 4 PC P&C PSU's running in my systems. The only problem I have ever had is when I dropped a screwdriver into a 3 year old uncovered PC P&C 475 Watt PSU while running... DONT ASK When I called them, i just told them it died and they shipped me out a brand new upgraded 510 for free and it arrived before i had a chance to send the old one back. No hassles, on CC, no shipping cost, nothing at all . I was completely floored by the incredible support this company gives to it's customers.

To the above poster. I dont think they make all there PSU's here in the USA. My RMA'ed 750 said made in china, however this was on the cooling fan that had PCP&c's logo on it. This new QUAD SLi 750 has a different fan and says made in USA. Weird.

Internal is all the same.
Seasonic makes the silencer series and Wintect makes the 1kw.

Unrealistic? Depends. Say you have a P180. Ambient in the room of 19-21 degrees. Now, seeing how the P180 is extremely efficient in terms of that, your internal temperature in the psu compartment is never more than a few degrees above that.
Not only the PCP&C, but many other cases do that. Not to mention, 33-50%? Maybe if it's a Powmax. Bit exaggerated.. Not to mention, many other companies produce true-spec'd psu's. Seasonic, Etasis, Zippy... the list goes on.

PCP&C silencers are made by Seasonic (in Taiwan and China) and Win-Tact, also located in China. Not Carlsbad.

It's not like they are really caught in a lie since all their custom units are built there.

That does not tell you a whole lot about the unit. What is more important is, if the rails are stable when your AC supply fluctuates or when your load fluctuates. ;)

I'm planning to get a PCP&C P/S as my next power supply.
I kinda wish my old Antec TP430 would lay down and die already and force me to upgrade, lol.
