View Full Version : If you play Titan Quest, back up your save game folder...

...so that if the game jacks up your save file you're not hosed. Evidently, sometimes the game hiccups and then spits out your save game files in a less than savory manner.

If you then accidentally click the 'play titan quest' button before realizing what has happened, it over writes your 'bad' old character. At that point there is absolutely nothing you can do. You can use an editing program to level your character back up but that is about it.

The way to tell if your files have been corrupted is that when you go to the main screen you will no longer see your character standing there with the weapons and such that are supposed to be equipped. If you see that and have backed up your Titan Quest save game folder, simply exit the game, delete the folder in there now and replace it with your backed up one.

You can find your save game files under My Documents>(My?)Games>Titan Quest

Back up the whole folder every so often. I didn't know about the potential problem until it was too late. I now have to go back to square one and level back up to 27 and *hopefully* re-find all the cool loot I had before this happened. :upset: I was on the last part of Egypt too. Ugh!

I hope this saves someone else a bunch of grief and cussing...

What version are you running?

I have 1.20 and haven't seen the problem yet.

I too have version 1.20 & I hope you don't have it happen to you too. I'd highly encourage you to back up your save game info regularly though.

I lost about a month of playtime...
