View Full Version : Ideas for improving air flow (Antec P180)

Despite what the reviews say, I don't think the Antec P180 has very good air flow by default. ;) It's really quiet compared to other cases I've used, but my previous Centiron 5 case flowed much better than this P180.

Anyways, nothing a little changing around/modding can't fix. I'm just curious what types of changes all of you P180 owners have made to improve air flow? Please post what type of heatsink/fan you have as well.

I'm running the Tuniq Tower 120 with the following changes to the case:
-Removed the top fan and placed it inside the optical drive area (I have one CD drive which is on the bottom optical bay that is separate from the rest).
-Removed all the metal platings behind the plastic optical drive covers (wish I could find some mesh type drive covers).
-Added another TriCool fan to the optional front intake spot (removed that middle HDD cage since all of mine are mounted below).

Overall the changes made about 3-4c reduction in temps. Adding that fan in the top optical drive area dropped my MB temps by a good 6-8c though. I'm sure the RAM is running much cooler too since there's air going over it.

Anyway, still thinking of what else I can do to improve the cooling but also make it quiet as possible (pretty tough trying to do both, hehe). I think the next step is going to be to cut the metal grill on the front of the case where that middle intake fan goes.
