I figured at that price I might as well give it a shot, when you click the link and then click more information under the picture of the cpu you can see they are linked to buy.com as "market place"

Buy.com Marketplace

In an effort to provide our customers the broadest selection of products and availability, Buy.com has added third party sellers' listings in our Buy.com Marketplace. Our customers rate their transactions with our Marketplace sellers and we post those ratings along with other comments and feedback so you can review a seller's rating before you decide to buy a Marketplace item. When you place a Marketplace order, you make a purchase directly from the Seller through Buy.com's checkout process. Buy.com charges your credit card/debit card, and we coordinate the shipment with the Seller, who ships it directly to you. Buy.com does not share your credit or debit card information with a Seller. The Buy.com Marketplace takes pride in carefully protecting our customers with our Marketplace Guarantee. For more information regarding the Buy.com Marketplace, please see the Buyer Terms and FAQ.

Here is the cnet rating for them http://reviews.cnet.com/4011-5_7-6264595.html

You may end up with a canceled order due to wrong pricing. But still worth a try anyways:p:

Marketplace Guarantee Claim
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buyers should receive Marketplace items in the condition that they were listed. We ask buyers to first contact the seller to give them a chance to address any issues. If the seller does not respond or if the issue is not addressed to the customer's satisfaction buyers can rely on our Buy.com Marketplace Guarantee Claim which, covers the first $750 of every purchase.
Buyers are eligible to submit a Guarantee claim if:

1 - Buyer never received the item purchased.

2 - Buyer received a different item than the one purchased.

3 - The item received was materially different than what was listed.

If a buyer and a seller are unable to amicably resolve a dispute with an order, we recommend that the buyer file a Marketplace Guarantee Claim. Please note that the Marketplace Guarantee form is only available in your My Account 30 days after your purchase date up to 60 days after the purchase date.

Buyers can submit claims from their My Account area. Once a claim has been submitted, the buyer will receive a confirmation email and the claim will be researched. Guarantee refunds will be issued to the buyer credit card used for the original purchase.

Regardless, we'll send our CC companies after them if this doesn't turn out to go our way. Worst case scenario, we get our money back. Best case? We all get what we want in the end anyways. It may be worth $100 bucks to have to fight them to get a 3060. :) Like doing a mail in rebate almost, lol.

I think those online resellers share a same warehouse in Edison, NJ.:fact:
Newegg, Chiefvalues and more..
An online reseller does not need touch any products he sells if everything goes smoothly. RMA is a different animal for some resellers (e.g. newegg), that helps them to learn what they are actually selling. Some e-retailers simply want you to send a RMA product back to manufacturer, and they know nothing about their products at all.:slapass:

Wasn't there another thread about this very thing, posted about 3 weeks ago on here? Anyway, they discussed this sham being perpetrated by ANTonline, the way they advertise a Xeon 3060 (and still have neglected to change it to 3040) for $225 and don't alert customers they're getting screwed with a lower end CPU. I personally think everyone who got stuck with a 3040 needs to give ANTonline hell until they get the part that is ADVERTISED. Otherwise it's false advertising, and they need to do more than just reimburse you the amount you paid.

At the same time, though, you guys should've known $225 for a Xeon 3060 is too good to be true.

Well we seen them change the link to 3040 and did you notice the price, for a bit it was over 300.00 some dollars:clap: The they made it the price they charged us:eek: Well now market place is off their front page all together:slap:

So I called back at 4:30pm before I left work and talked to a Nick and he said the person I have been dealing with is he boss and one of the major players and that he is sorting the whole thing out.

So dispute the charge with your credit card if you haven't already, I think this mess really hit home with them because as I explained to this man,
if they would have simply cancelled the orders saying it was a pricing error then yes we would be upset but we would just call it a day as this is common with online buying. But they crossed the line by shipping a lesser priced item and this is the true definition of bait and switch.

I will call the Office of the Attorney General tomorrow and report this:fact:

Do let us know how it goes, if I receive a 3040 then I am going to contact the various companies, see if they'll replace it with a 3060, and if that doesn't work then start calling in favors to hammer these guys. I'm just pissed that they didn't cancel the order, I had the same issue happen with Office Depot and they at least sent out an apologetic email saying they were sorry for the price mix up.

gomeler may be safe, I got a guy here where I work that has not got a ship notice yet so maybe they went ahead and cancelled any pending orders.

They already changed the order on buy.com, so i am pretty sure they made a mistake. and they are better willing to make it up for their mistakes otherwise i will make them pay for it.

Which steps should I do? Contact Buy.com(HQ?) first or call my CC to dispute it?

I called my CC(Chase) yesterday, they said they need to wait until the charge to post on my account before they can start the dispute process.

The charge is still pending not post to my account yet.

ANTOnline finally sent me a short line of email message:

The Buy.com information provided was for
MFTR PN 1 - [BX805573040]
UPC:735858189736

Those ANTOnline guys are really not professional.:slapass: They are saying it was Xeon 3040 :slapass:

I'm calling their HQ right away, and then my CC company. It posted to my account sometime today. I'll keep you all posted on what is happening.

I just got off the phone with Jeff from buy.com and he is setting up prepaid return shipping labels, I hope you all use the corporate phone number listed and voice your concerns with him. When you call the number just wait through all the phone options and then the operator will pick up, then ask for Jeff Demers.

Well it was marked for "out for delivery" from 2am so I should get my box by the end of the day. Now I just have to wait and see and if all else fails then Jeff Pierce is going to have another customer on the lines.

Firstly, I started by filing a dispute with Visa, who requires more information. I proceeded to call the number palese provided, and went to customer service, who were of no help (they told me to call ANTOnline.) So I called ANTOnline and got to their sales representative and they told me to email them so I hung up on them. THEN I called the first number back and asked firstly not to be transferred to Customer Service (which is what they did when I called the operator the first time.) I got ahold of Bernardo, who had me wait quite a while a few times. All in all, he says to try to contact ANTOnline again. I call back the ANTOnline number and immediately ask for the Sales Department manager. I'm still on hold (after 15 minutes...)

EDIT: Excellent find palese. I'll give that a shot if I give up on this phone call...

ANOTHER EDIT: After getting very short with the representative at ANTOnline, I decided to give the email a try. We'll see what happens. I included a screenshot of the item page on Buy.com, a scan of the packing slip, the original order confirmation email from Buy.com, and several lines telling them not to waste my time telling me it's their fault. If that doesn't work, I will call Jeff Demers. Once again palese thank you very much for all of your help. :)

This is a good point. :) If you send it back to buy.com, you may experience another round of trouble because it is not the actual seller.

I just made a simple request to the ANT that they either honor the order by replacing it with a Xeon 3060 or their charge is to be disputed by the CC.

That's the best way to deal with them, IMHO.

My experience is the CC company will be on your side in this situation and simply not pay them until it is satisfactorily resolved.

I filed the dispute this morning. Asked them for a case number and faxed the invoice, order confirmation and the photo of the package they sent to me.

The funny thing is the credit card I used for this transcation is Buy.com Chase Visa Card. LOL:D Hope chase is still on my side:)

My CC is Chase too. I just file a dispute and they said they will mail me a dispute form which will arrive in 7-10 days.

Also they told me I need to send the item back with some kind of proof of return.

Now it's time to call Buy.com HQ.......

Where should I ship the item back to? Buy.com? Antonline?

I suggest you to call again for a case number. Then, fax all the documents to them with reference to the case number. So you don't wait for the silly form papers.:slapass:

I don't think you need to ship it back now untill you think it is going to be resolved. :nono:

First time i called citicards to fill a dispute, this guy ask me to call buy.com and return it to them with some kind of proof then i will be able to file a dispute. Then i called again, talk to another guy, filed a dispute without any return ask. finally, he told me not to open the package and keep it with me until they told me what to do next.
