Would installing windows with ahci support and changing it in bios make my raptor perform better?

Yes
I don't think so. 74GB Raptor don't have NCQ.

It wont, I just did a fresh format but this time I loaded the AHCI driver using the F6 method, and nothing seems any faster, if anything, multitasking is a little slower. Loading windows takes an extra 7-10 seconds, and clicking on firefox icon to load it on a fresh restart and it takes a little for it to load compaired to just using the stardard MS driver and a NON F6 windows install. Next time I reinstall I will NOT use this driver again. BTW I tested this using my 74GB raptor, and my seagate 320GB SATAII drive

NCQ i believe came sometime after the raptors.
As long was the write-back cache on the drive is on anyway NCQ won't do much.
NCQ or TQC are mostly useful if you don't want the risk of the write-back cache, which typically you only do in servers and high data safety environments.

There was an old thread on this where myself and some others did performance testing using AHCI vs. IDE, and showed very minor performance losses across the board by going to AHCI. Either way it's not noticable, so don't exert the effort.

i had less grinding and more caching it seemed with ahci. things ran more instant. ide seemed to be slow like lots of grinding with the brakes on. if you want something to really make an improvement go get perfectdisk an awesome defragger. it will even defrag your pagefile every boot. you will see an performance increase even with lots of memory.
