Has anyone had any luck with OC'ing a Core2 Duo E6300 on the ECS P4M800Pro-M v2.0? I got this motherboard as a combo deal with the CPU at Fry's.

I like the board as a nice transition board till I upgrade to DDR2 and PCIE, but I am having trouble getting a stable overclock at anything over 266MHz for the CPU frequency.

Here are my specs:
- E6300 Core2 Duo
- ECS P4M800Pro-M v2.0 (Bios 061004 from 10/4/06)
- ATI Radeon 7500 AGP
- Corsair VS1GB400C3 1GB DDR400 PC3200 CAS3
- 2 Maxtor drives on the SATA ports
- DVD R/W on EIDE
- Clean installation of WinXP SP2

The board has a 300MHz CPU frequency limit. I also have read that the VIA chipset is overclocked and could be unstable at anything above 1066 (4x 266).

I can boot into Windows and run programs up to 275MHz, but I would get unexplained BSDs or system resets. This is with default settings where I only change the the CPU frequency.

Above 275MHz the system will not boot at all. I tried setting the DRAM frequency to 200MHz (lowest setting for DDR) and still couldn't get over 275. I haven't tried changing the CPU voltage, since I am not sure if that will help. I'm wondering if the 275MHz level is indicative of a badly implemented 1066 FSB lock and that the chipset is crashing at >1100FSB (4x275).

I read in this review of the ECS board that they were able to get their X6800 to 300MHz (11x300).

I'd appreciate any suggestions I can try to push this board to 300MHz CPU frequency.

Be glad you got 275mhz.

I got one of those deals too but I have one of my E6600s in it.
I have it running 2xF@H 24/7 at 300 fsb and no voltage changes from default with Corsair pc3500 ddr. It's not being a problem at all but I don't really play with it. Have better ones to play with.:)

maxwedge can you please post your bios settings?

Like I said it's mostly default everything. All I changed were cpu freq , dram cas# and all the boot settings. Rest I left alone. I guess you got a bunk one.

cpu @300mhz
dram@200
all voltages=normal
Dram cas#=2.0/3
All the other dram timings I left alone
Agp aperture=256
