I was playing this game for 6 hours or so, it has so much POTENTIAL, and after 4-5 patches it's still horrid, slowdowns, lockups, corrupt save - you name it!
Anyone else tried it yet?

Haven't tried it myself, but heard the same thing...
Funny thing is, for most people, it's precisely the same with Ubisoft's latest (console-to-PC-ports), SCDA and R6 Vegas... The new trend of PCs..

Another reason to 'try before you buy' :\
I miss the good old days where games were actually complete, nearly bug free. Nowadays its devs releasing software around strict release dates. Dark Messiah is another example of a game that looked promising, but ultimately ended up being a buggy piece of garbage

yup. I saw f--k physics and graphics
give me a GAMEPLAY!
Prey was decent, I admit
The sad thing is, give the developers 2-3 more months and this game could be amazing, but no! if it doesnt crash for the testers, we could squeez money out of it.

All bad games are the fault of CAPITALISM
ALL good games are also the "fault" of CAPITALISM!
Anyway when was the last time you played a good game made in China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam or North Korea?

I was half-joking. Lately, best games have been mods

I didnt like this game at all. Controls feel very odd and i dunno the movement just didnt seem smooth. The graphics sucks too, I wasnt impressed at all. Part of the reason I tried it because I wanted to see what else my gts can do but like i said, it wasnt pretty. I guess I was spoiled with Oblivion but there isnt much richness in color with this game, feels like dx8 or something..

I didnt have any bugs with Dark Messiah but one thing I hated was how repetitive it was. I was just tired of running through caves after caves searching for one exit. I wanted to see more outdoor type not just all in caves. Graphics was good tho.

I didnt have any bugs with Dark Messia
Try doing some basic things: like 'dropping' a spell from your inventory, putting a shield on your quickselect keys, acquire a new spell when inventory is full, dropping the rope-bow into a load-zone
...and this is all without even moving

Shouldn't they be paying us for beta testing their game, not the other way around?

Exactly, that's why support trying the full version of the game first before playing it, even if it's through methods we cannot discuss.
I do buy games once in a while, unfortunately a very rare while.

Isn't Gothic 3 the Oblivion rip off? I read it has a lot of bugs when used with a dual core CPU.

I'm pretty satisfied with Rainbow Six Vegas (even though it can hardly be called "true" R6), and Dawn of War after the latest expansion is better than ever... So mods are not the only worthwile things ;)
In that regard, look at Company of Heroes... Is that a mod :stick: ;)
Also, I'll admit that 2006 was pretty dead-ish with good PC-games other than RTSs, but just around the corner we've got some preeetty decent games, eh?? ;)

I loved playing Gothic 3 and I got really far in it but I kinda wanted to go back to a FPS for a while. I really liked the game despite its bugs and I will start playing again when i have time. I never had any major problems with the game but the really slow level loading times(3-4minutes with 2gb ram, 7900GT, E6400) turned me off of it because it isn't a "pick up and game" kinda thing.

wow tired it just now.... lets say its gone off my hdd after about 15 minutes overall. Terrible control, terrible fighting system, terrible graphics, terrible voice acting. That was enough for me, didnt even want to play it after.

Maximum PC did a review of Gothic 3 in the February issue if anyone cares to read it sometime. Pretty sucky.

I actually enjoyed Gothic 3.
Oblivion was ok...for a day or 2, then got so boring. It was like an empty world.
G3 actually made you think before you did something. The world changed accoring to what you do and who you kill etc. It was much more immersive, and gritty. Graphics were awesome too..if you could run it on high, and tweak the INI file a bit more to push it. The way people did there daily things, the way animals would hunt, roam in packs etc. was AWESOME. Oh, and it didnt have the lvl scaling like Oblivion...that was lame.
Anyway, past the bugs (saved game bug was the only I saw, I never crashed or anythng else) it is a GREAT game, again, slammed by those who didnt play more than an hour of it, or the ES fanboys. Granted its not for everyone, but unless you are a BIG name your reviews will be crap most of the time.

i WANTED to like it, but the continuity bugs got to me. "Oh I can't rescue this guy and kill this guy until I do this?!"
and "OK, I killed the deer for him, why won't he do anything now?"
I just started Oblivion, and although it's more dumbed down that Gothic 3, is feels much warmer and welcoming for non-die-hard RPG players like myself (Graphic-wise and gameplay)
The environmental Animal behavior is great, but the generic NPC is annoying. It's great that there's a camp of Orcs, but if I slaughter them all, take they're stuff, they will just get back up and resume sitting around the fire saying "You don't belong here, go away stranger" -it's obvious that "Oh, I need them for a future mission, what a bore"
This, and other examples is how extended realism deteriorates gameplay.
I will probably come back to Gothic 3 after a few dozen more patches to give it another try.

I agree totally. Oblivion felt like an RPG suburb. The level scaling pisses me off. Also, it is advantageous to level skills that aren't your primary skills in Oblivion. What kinda retarded system is that?
Being familiar with Gothc 2 I knew Gothic 3 would be buggy. It is game you should wait about a half year after launch before getting.

yup, according to several diff mags I read...Gothic 3 = crap.
i didnt even like Gothic2, which i got long after it came out. the controls are just hideous.
