As tittle says....
There is a "trick" of pushing the second and the third bench of the 2k3 higher than normal....
I haven't benched 2k3 since GeForce 440MX and I don't know how you do it!..:D
Anyone willing to help will be much appreciated....Thanks in advance...:) :toast:
Hey Hipro try to talk to Overklokk (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/member.php?u=5667) he knows everything about 3D 03 with the 8800GTX

GT2 and GT3 are not higher than normal, they are normal, neighbour :) Try run them first and you'll see. I have the same situation here and nobody gives me explanation about it:confused:

Firstly I must buy it so as I can play them in different order......Then if I do so, will it give me the final score or I sould play them with the exact order (1-2-3-4) so as to give me the score?....
I've benched 3DMark 03 only a few times with the cpu on air, with 8800. The key to high GT2 and GT3 are to push the pciex bus and the bus between the extra bi16 controller to its highest. 168MHz pciex and over 350MHz x 5 spp-mch bus. Dont forget to turn of linkboost too :)
@ Hipro: 03 is like 05 and 06. Always the same order.
Oh I see that the new drivers is finally FM Approved :)

Wonder why WR are only based on tweaks the LOD ?
I think it a biased way to reach a high score
Is a bench not supose to be running at default settings and not tweak as hell ?

Nope
Even @ default GT2 and GT3 are really bad, when running the hole 3dmark:confused:
@575/1800 GT2 gives 320fps when first running.
@670/2150 GT2 gives 370fps when first running.
But when ran 3dmark in default order GT2 gives
@575/1800 270fps
@670/2150 305fps
with GT3 situation is the same:confused:
There is really some mystery with 8800 series and 3dmark2003
Even, if running twice gt2 or gt3, in the second run score is low as hell:mad:
i.e first run GT2 gives me 370fps , when starting it for the second time, it gives me 305 fps:mad:

LOD tweaks are available to everyone, some sort of free fps performance boost if you like.
He who can make most out of this will generally come out with the best scores.
Finding the best LOD setting for your card and bench takes quite some tweaking and testing.
Do you think overclocking, memtweaking and other OS tweakings aren't legit too?
I mean that ain't default settings either.
LOD is just another tweak.

Yup , i noticed that too :fact:
If i try to bench other 3dmarks or any 3d before 3d03 it will give me low GT2 & 3 , if i run straight after reboot it will show normal score :toast:
And i cant get a good score with any driver but 97.02 and only with Vsync on Auto and Prerender Limit = 3 . No go with 97.44's so far for some reason :(

definitely not agree sorry, LOD tweak for me is a way to cheat the bench. Not the same thing if you do some fine tune in bios, this is not the same thing for me. But everyone think diffrent, like the taste and smell is different for all.

A lot of us used to think the same. Unfortunately, LoD has been accepted by the community as a tweak and you'll have to live with it. It's a very powerful tool for benching.

Everyone act as he wants. No problem at all, just specify when benching if you LOD tweak or not and that's all.

No LOD used in any of my 8800gtx runs except for 01' :D
LOD tweaking 03' gives 6000+ points in 03??? Wow!
Gt4 shows gpu power in 03' and I have you beat on card clocks and cpu clocks by quite a bit, so I either thought it was some sort of bug I was causing or just needed some LOD tweaking on the final runs, but I didnt think it would be that much. I'll test soon. Good job on hunting that nice boost down.

Did you try lod 9 like overklokk said George? That sounds about right then and makes sense because I seem to be about 6k-7k off with my old 03' score. My 03' scores have all been the same since launch, weak on gt2-3 compared to other guys. I had the clocks but LOD was the only thing I wasn't doing yet.

800x600 isn't a valid bench. Benchmarks should be run at standard benchmark settings (so 1024*768 in this case).

NO kidding.:stick: Thanks for that, Mr Obvious.
This issue is not a tweak. Kinda the whole point of my post. You cannot tweak that many points, only res change or driver issues can cause such a problem. I didn't think I'd have to explain it fully.:stick: If you bench regularily, then you'd understand. I just happen to bench more than any of you.

Benching more or less than someone else is not important here, nor is spreading information that isn't of any use.
To me 3DMark03 has always been the toughest bench to pass, 'cause you need a well-tweaked os, the right set of drivers and a pretty stable system. I always set my pci-e freq. to 125MHz. minimum, which helps a lot to gain stability.

I understand your perspective...the way I look at it, you got the jist of what's needed, as does everyone else. This cannot be just one simple tweak that causes some to score higher...any ofthe posts in this thrad are the same as mine, except for Gorod. If everyone posted liek he did, maybe the answer to the problem would come out, if it was a tweak that gives this point boost. But liek I said earlier, this ain't no tweak.
I've got an 8800GTX here, and am stuck with the same issue. I posted my x1900 scores as that's the closest i can get for a point boost as is claimed here. I don't have cpu power to push GTX tho.
If the issue was a tweak, then the same should apply to the x1900xtx...not exactly the same, however anything like LOD tweaking and such can be replicated from card to card, just the selected settings are different. This might mean nothing to you, but it means lots to me.

No job, but last year of college and I have to work my ass off to pass, so I don't really have that much time left to bench. The easiest way to tweak your system is, like you said, just by looking to fellow benchers what tweaks they use and just copy ... not the right way, for what I'm concerned. Another way is to look everything up yourself, which is far more satisfying. The best solution is helping each other, so looking to the tweaks of others and test them all out yourself and try to combine them. That's how I tweak my system and I hope a lot of fellow benchers do it the same way.
If the issue was a tweak, then the same should apply to the x1900xtx...not exactly the same, however anything like LOD tweaking and such can be replicated from card to card, just the selected settings are different. This might mean nothing to you, but it means lots to me.
You're absolutely right, LOD settings are diffirent for every card, hell, even every diffirent setup. Drivers, tweaks, hardware changes result in other LOD settings. The best way to know the best LOD setting is just by testing them one by one (so running the benches over and over again).

I was fighting the 2k3 point battle with my 7900GT.
EnablePerfLevelForcing 1 helped but not very much.
I think it was just a few points because drivers didn't have to switch between 2D and 3D clocks.
Huge impact on GT2 and GT3 had mem frequency.
I could run my mem at 960-1000 for 2k1 and 2k5 but my best results for 2k3 were with mem at 730-760. There were absolutely no visible artifacts, but at 10-20 MHz higher my GT2 and GT3 dropped dramatically.

Tweaking the services is certainly a good thing to do. Just be sure you don't disable too much, or else you might end up with a system that can't load 3d benches at all.

Spent last week testing 7900GS cards SLI/single and a 7800gt and was having the same problems with huge drop in GT2/GT3. This weekend i decided to switch to 7900GTO single card testing on 91.47 drivers and i haven`t had any trouble. Running for hours on end all my tests were within 200 points of each other. A BIG BUMP.... :D
I bumped this thread to tell you all that I found the "trick" of the 2k3 benchie....... :D
I was with cards on air at about 65xxx marks as for the 2k3 and I was wondering as you know, what some others do to have 71xxx marks.....
When I was in CEBIT benching in front of public, I did archived a score of about 716xx marks...... I then did a score of ~ 65xxx marks.....
Trying to replicate the 71xxx marks was EASY......The only thing I did was rebooting and benching......
One time I had 65xxx and the next time I had 71xxx......
SO THERE IS NO "trick" as for the 2k3 benchie.......ONLY reboot and luck that it will produse big numbers.......:D
Now I think I'm ALSO ready for that 2k3 WR.... Time will show.....:D :toast:

A BIG BUMP.... :D
I bumped this thread to tell you all that I found the "trick" of the 2k3 benchie....... :D
I was with cards on air at about 65xxx marks as for the 2k3 and I was wondering as you know, what some others do to have 71xxx marks.....
When I was in CEBIT benching in front of public, I did archived a score of about 716xx marks...... I then did a score of ~ 65xxx marks.....
Trying to replicate the 71xxx marks was EASY......The only thing I did was rebooting and benching......

Yes I know.......When I archived it, my first thought was to save it in case that I couldn't reproduce it, so I saved it in my HD to have it.....BUT I did it again and again and again......every day....65xxx reboot, 71xxx..... :)
It's weired though coz you bench 10 times and you get it 3 times or so......In my other HD/instalation, I could NEVER archive it.... :confused:
To be sure, I made a GHOST of these windows instalation, not to loose it.....:D

lol, I saw that Hexus TV interview Hipro. It was good :)
Congratulations, top stuff :toast:
BTW, you forgot to plug OCZ and Nvidia :D
How can that only come to light now? I`ve known its a restart issue for months, and I think a few guys can confirm that. Same technique as 3DMark01. Hipro...sorry, but you must have known this?
Bench-> restart Bench-> restart.

For me this is work ;) Run bench after reboot and 60k, next bench without reboot and 55k :rolleyes: Reboot and 60k.
This is only trick for high score in 2k3 mark.

Kept trying and trying with no luck. Then decreased desktop resolution to 1024X768 and nothing but "good" runs anymore. Don't even have to run it straight after reboot (reboot needed after decreasing the resolution tho). :)

So, res change worked for you? I have this correct?
Desktop res change, not 3d res change, correct?

Yeah, that was the missing key for me. Not sure if it's the only thing needed for continous success. But i think i have pretty much the same settings otherwise as Gorod gave in this thread.

I wondered...I posted much earlier that res change was needed...but I guess I was not direct enough. Thought it may have just been my system. but I still do not get gains as large as seen earlier.
Confirmed! Thanks mtzki!
I beat my previous personal record with much lower clocks. (-100MHz gpu and -500Mhz cpu)

Ye it works flawlessly !
Finally did it , i have same problems like Hipro has with my XP install - never can succeed a good run, no matter how many reboots or runs i was making :(. With lowering desktop resolution to 1024x768 i made it !:)
@mtzki 10x for sharing
Now, it's time for SLI runs again and getting back to ORB HOF

interesting my desktop default res is 1600x1200 when i run my 3dmark benchmarks
I thought that running same desktop resolution as the benchmark is the most basic tweak

Just watched that. When the guy points to FUGGER's cascade and says we were looking at that earlier and hipro says "yeah that was an accident". Rofl :D.

I think there's a lot a trick for do a better one...and i think that hipro can do his work at the next bench...
With 300mhz+++ on cpu i have done about 1.5kpt++, :D cpu limited.. yes the 3d03 is a pretty bench!
