I have always been confused as how to cool memory with a 120mm fan since i have never tried yet. Is the only way using zip ties and somehow figuring out a way to tie it on the mobo(anyone have pictures. it would be greatly apreciated:D )?Would it matter if the fan is directly touching and laying on naked ram?
ive seen the corsair dominator fan thingies but those 30mm fans dont seem to push enough air. are there any mounting kits for a 120mm fan? i was thinking about using a yate. thanks.

in my experience it doesnt take alot of airflow. My ocz 3700EB over 3.2vdimm ddr540 3-2-2-8 1T got very warm and 2x60mm TT 20 something cfm fans cooled em right down. I never threw a thermal probe on em tho just "to touch" test. made about 10~mhz diffrence in overclocks on my 3700EB but they didnt scale past 3.2vdimm.
Ive got em over my team -5bf microns now as they get a touch warm at 2.8ishvdimm at ddr540 fpr benching and were warmer than i was comfortable with 24/7 ddr530. didnt make alot of diffrence in overclocking tho.
I just zip tied the two fans together and made 2 little nylon stand offs maby 3/8" tall. the units held on by 2x rubber bands connected to hooks on my standoffs looped over the retaining clasps on my dimm slots on each side with just enough tension so it doesnt sag. You could make something similar for a 120mm fan. Make the stand offs with the hooks offset a tad wider than your dimm slots ,offset since i doubt you'll have enough room for the 120mm fan to be centered,
I'll try to take a pic of my ghetto affair tomarrow. If you do try a rubber band retention set up make sure that there isnt to much tension in the rubber bands. it could be only a few months before they start to get brittle and alot of tension would prolly cause early failure. im still use'n the same bands from maby 5 months ago +/- but i check em every time i hit my case with compressed air every 2 or 3 weeks just to be safe.

i use rubberbands also. i use four fan screws, one in each corner of the fan as spots to wrap the rubber bands around, one on each side (i only use one fan in the center of the ram). you can run the rubber band around the tabs that hold the ram in. like mongoose said, the rubber bands do get brittle and snap after a while, but if you have a side window its not to terribly hard to notice. doesnt take a whole lot of air to keep the ram cool, so you can use a really quiet fan or put it on a rheostat.

Well it seems my exgf has my digital camera so i'll have to try and get that back over the weekend so sorry for no pix. in this thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=115478) is a pic of a very similar set up to give you a idea.

Epoxy works great for attaching the fans together, but I since switched to using 60mm fans which is recommended over these 50mm ones (however to make the rubberbands work with the 60mm fans I had to attached to interior fans holes instead of the exterior ones):
