View Full Version : QX6700 @ 4.000Mhz Air Cooled

I decide to find the max benchable of my retail QX6700 air cooled on the P5B Deluxe - motherboard is unmoded so the real maximum VCore is 1.58V ..
Cooled by a Tuniq Tower 120, of course ;)
First the Everest Info
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_P5B_4000_EverestInfo.jpg
4 simultaneous SuperPI's one each core - each a 4Ghz
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_P5B_4000_FSB400_SuperPI.jpg
Everest CPU Queen at 4Ghz
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_P5B_4000_CPUQueen.jpg
And finally the CPU Cinbench 9.5, almost 4Ghz ..but runs 3.970 Mhz
http://pedrorocha.planetaclix.pt/QX6700_P5B_3960_CineBench10sec.jpg
10 Seconds, not bad for a air cooled Quad Core :D
At this moment P5B seems the right board for Quad Cores - I just wish it give so much FSB in the 680i

What temps does coretemp show it running at? Never really trusted Speedfan ;)

Same than Everest - see last picture Everest are temps sensor readings are on the right side

Ahh I see. I really need to invest in monitors which can get over 1024x768 res :p:

This winter is quite cold for Portugal standards , should be around 17 / 18ºC :(

That is one strong chip! The temps are also very good for a quad core. Congrats you lucky bencher you ;)

Me too.
Nice kenty you got there Pedro
Good work
I think that is the same one used with the mini Cascade

Thats what I am wondering. If it does 4G on air with no mod, I would what it will hit with mod.

Yeah I 2nd that, batch please! :D

Wow, great overclock Pedro.
I was about to ask the same thing as skootyloops since i discovered that on my P5B Dlx, SpeedFan was reading my QX6700 temps 10-20C under CoreTemp and Asus PC Probe.
I'm also curious if your other voltages are maxed out in BIOS, like NB and SB ?
Thanx =)

The new beta 8 of SpeedFan 3.2 introduced support for DTS temperature readings (the internal temperature from Core Duo's) - check http://www.almico.com/sfbetaprogram.php
The readings on all 4 cores on SpeedFan are not full similiar to Coretemp or Everest (that reads the same that CoreTemp), check pic 2nd and 4th pics
I don't what are more accurate..
NB : 1.55v
SB : 1.7v
Mem : 2.40
At these voltages an aditional fan on NB / mem area is almost mandatory.

Hi Mr. 100K :D
No 8800 SLI on P5B Dlx unfortunately :(
On the EVGA 680i and in mini-cascade around 4.550 3DMark06 benchable - but the QX6700 produce really to much heat for the mini-cascade unpowerfull compressors (temps jump like crazy with more tan 1.75v) , maybe it will be solved with a diferent calibration but doesnt make much sense .. I will test on Ricky's tri-stage since it is near at ethylene bottle ;)
I'm to lazy to unmount the 680i from the mini-cascade to test this QX6700 on air with 8800 SLI :p:
Speaking of Ricky tri-stage - almost ready http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1931640&postcount=81 if handles this QX6700 with 1.8v at sub-100ºC can handle everything..

Pretty bold statement there, you never know ^^, it doesn't concern or involve me in anyway but I hope you always have more than 100 bucks in paypal, just in case lol.
Oh, you double posted ^^
To OP: gratz on getting such a good quad chip and high clocks on air, maybe newer batches will change the picture ^^

I know 2 people that have it and their max is around 3.3ghz using TT typhoon. If you can hit 4ghz i'll grant you 100 bucks via pay-pal. lol
I am priming my QX6700 at 3.3GHZ 1.3V load, just did a 14+ hour 4 x prime at 1.3V under load. I am hoping for 3.6GHZ air cooled 1.4v loaded.
3.2GHZ 1.3v = 60c full load 14 + hours
3.3ghz 1.3v = 60c full load 10 minutes so far

Pedro, those numbers are great/...How long can you have this system running? I leave my computers on 24/7, would you be able todo that with your system setup on the overclocked side?
i think i'm gonna try the cooler he used for mine.I dont want to oc much...just to like 3ghz
nice work though

There are some different ways to have a overclock
1 SS
2 Bench stable (Spi, 3D mark)
3 Prime stable
Dont think he is running his Kent 24/7 @ 4Ghz ;)

the only problem, is that when your cpu temp is below zero it shows core0 = 8°c and core1=8°c, with core temp, TAT, spdfan beta.

not to semi revive a semi dead thread, but anyone know what kind of average multi's and fsb people are getting? i've seen the extreme results, but not the avg. i would love to see a average oc with what mb people are getting with what voltage/multi/fsb/etc.. people are getting. i know my mb and qx are getting here soon, and would love to see some stats so far from our members so i know what to hope for
